Travis's POV

After dinner, we all went into the Poseidon cabin to play truth or dare. "Okay, me first." Percy announced. "Conner, truth or dare?" "Us Stolls always choose dares." Conner said and high-fived me. I slapped his hand. "Okay, then. I dare you to climb on the roof of the cabin and yell 'I'm a stupid chicken!'" It went on like that a for a long time, until it was Piper's turn. "Okay.... Katie, truth or dare?" She asked. "...Dare." She replied hesitantly. "Okay then, I dare you to tell Travis the first secret off the top of your head." Piper said.

Katie's POV

I shook my head. "No, that's too private." I said. "But you have to do it." Piper said. "Fine." I sighed.
And then I looked at the scars on my arm and the angry, shrill voice of my step-mother came back to me.
"Idiot! Useless, stupid, worthless idiot!" A voice in my head said,
No, not that! Not that one!
But I have to. I told myself. Piper said the first one that came to me. "Okay." I said shakily. There was something wet on my face. Without realizing it, I had been crying. I crawled over to Travis. I whispered in his ear,
"My step-mother beats me. I told everyone these scars are from a hellhound but I've been lying the whole time. These scars are from her. That is all that I wish to say."

Piper's POV

Oh gods. Travis looked shocked. And Katie was crying. It wasn't supposed to happen that way. We all thought she would look at him and blush furiously and tell him that she liked him and he would tell her that he liked her too. Uh-oh. "Erm, game over everyone." Annabeth said, ushering everyone out the door. Travis walked out with Conner trying to get a smirk out of him and Katie was still on the floor crying. Miranda was trying to talk to her, and I ran over to help, but Katie just shook her head and kept crying. We got her to stand up and sort-of shakily walk to her cabin, but she wouldn't say anything. When I left, Katie hugged me and Miranda before going to bed. "Thanks." She croaked out quietly.
