Monica Loyal - a happy, outstanding, and outgoing girl in her final year of high school. She had sustained a relationship of two years while keeping up her streak of constant A's and B's for each report card. She was a golden star person, though not such a valedictorian.
Though, about two hours ago, her boyfriend of such a long period of time, Justin, dumped her.
"But why..?" She'd whimpered.
"We don't fit anymore. There's someone else, someone that is close to perfect for me." He'd said. He didn't seem to have a speck of remorse in his eyes.
Monica knew that her shift was at 5 and it would be stupid to call in sick for the 6th time this month. But, it wouldn't hurt to try and calm down for a little while, and then go to work. What's the worst that could happen?
Soon enough, her best friend Jared and herself found themselves in her car, the windows and sunroof open as a blunt hung between Jared's fingers. Their eyes were both bloodshot and droopy, and they both talked about the craziest, most amazing things that they could find in the corners of their mind.
Jared handed Monica the small joint and she gladly took it, bringing it to her lips and sucking. She then inhaled the smoke and blew it right back out, mumbling something about the unfairness of how Men get to treat Women.
"Wha?" Jared tilted his head a little, staring past Monica and out the window at the darkening sky. "What time even is it?"
"5...30?" Monica spoke out slowly before realizing her lateness. She quickly started the car - having already mastered the art of driving while high - and drove back to Jared's apartment complex, which was only down the street. The quick car ride was filled with Jared choking a little on the smoke, and also his humming of Mr. Blue Sky. Monica let him finish off the joint and dropped him off, earning a little wave from him before she drove to her work.
By now, she'd smoked about two bowls and a joint, which now, she looked back on as a poor but rewarding decision.
As she pulled up into the parking lot of the Seven-Eleven she worked at, she pulled her hair out of the loose ponytail it had been in before. She plopped the uniform hat on her head and pinned on her name tag before finally turning off her car and getting out.
Working while high shouldn't be that hard, right?
Mr. Blue Sky kept repeating over and over in her head as she strolled into the gas station, sighing loudly. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted her coworker Michael, whom she didn't know that well, but he was pretty cute.
She found her way behind the counter and she stood behind one of the registers. Michael stood a few feet away from her, sipping on a red slurpee and leaning against the counter. He scrunched his nose a little.
"Ever heard of perfume, or showering?" He snickered quietly, to which Monica shrugged at him for.
"I didn't have time." She said quietly, turning to Michael and squinting her eyes at him.
She felt as if she was floating on clouds over a field of daises and being showered with rays of warm sun, she didn't have the energy to be pissed off at him.He sighed and started to take off his red hoodie, which he always seemed to wear, and handed it to her. She nodded thankfully and pulled it over her head - it smelled so good.
