You sprawled your body on the bed, phone in hand. Liam and you have been text messaging each other for a while now. It was simple small talk mostly. The most exciting thing you've both talked about was graduation...which wasn't really exciting. You set your phone down on the bed after replying. Getting up from the bed, you can hear your bedroom door open.
Tyler walked in, shutting the door behind him. He looked over to you but said nothing as you picked out your work clothes. He looked as though he wanted to say something, but he didn't. Tyler kept quiet as he watched you set your work clothes aside. You weren't sure what to say, so you stayed silent as well.
Tyler's hand combed through his long curls, "I...I want to say something without getting mad."
You stayed quiet.
His jaw tightened, his green eyes darkened. He didn't look toward your direction, only down to the floor. He said softly, "I feel like I'm already against my brother for your love." Tyler looks over to you, "If this Liam guy is going to be a part of this, it's too much drama for me."
You paused, feeling your insides burn. As he spoke, you can feel anger stirring inside you. Tyler continued, "Harry told me Liam's your ex. He was your first for everything. A high school sweetheart." He walked over to you, touching your arm with his fingertips, "I love you, (Y/N). But how could I compete with that?"
You wanted to talk to him like an adult.
You didn't want to yell.
You turned to him. And with a harsher tone you didn't want to come out you said, "Do you think that every guy in my life is a romantic interest? Are you serious?" You moved your arm away from his touch, making him flinch.
Tyler held back, his chest tightening, "I-I didn't mean--"
Your voice became harsh, "You don't know anything about drama, Tyler. I have twin brothers coming after my love, and I have to choose one over the other."
Tyler was surprised, giving a chuckle and replying with a harsher tone, "You call that drama? Step in my shoes, princess. I'm being labeled as a fucking criminal by not only everyone local, but by my own brother and mum. And as a bonus, I'm chasing after a girl who doesn't even know what she wants."
Your eyes watered, "Then stop chasing after me."
Tyler stood quiet. He stared at you before looking down to the ground and whispering, "I wish I could." He sighed, "Every time I think about leaving you...it hurts like hell. Not only because you're the only one who accepts me, but because you are me."
Your body relaxed.
Tyler slowly walked toward you, "We're both short tempered, we both know how to have fun, and we're both insecure." He stood in front of you, his eyes locking, "So why can't you see we're a perfect match?" His hand rose slowly, cupping your cheek. He whispered, "You're my beautiful," his arm wrapped around your waist, "amazing," he leaned in slowly, "princess."
Tyler's lips stirred with yours, his hands touching your body. He gently moved away, his eyes opening to meet yours. He said softly, "I'm sorry." Tyler looked away before exiting the room.
He left you standing, wondering.
You and Tyler were compatible, you couldn't deny it. But with so many insecurities in one relationship with two people who are short tempered, it didn't sound like as blissful as Tyler made it out to be.
You are gasoline, he is the lighted match.
. . .
Another rainy day.
