george

i had my arms around a sleeping beth as the movie on the tv finished, white credits rolling on a blank screen. i bit my lip as i tried my best to grab the remote, failing. fuck it. i thought i myself as i got up from my spot on the couch. a soft knock sounded on my front door and filled my living room. i quickly made my way to the door, pulling it open to reveal a crying and soaking wet alex elmslie. i silently wrapped my arms around him as he cried into my shoulder and chest area. her once vibrant pink hoodie was wet from rain and faded from years of wearing. his tears were running down his flushed porcelain skinned face. he was a complete mess. a soft sigh left my mouth as we stood in my front entrance, completely silent. all that was shared between us was each other's warmth and comfort, well, mine anyway.

"alex..."

i began before being cut off by a soft groan from my living room.

"how about you go and lay down in the guest room and we can talk about it in the morning?"

he simply nodded at my offer before making his way up my stairs. i made my way to my kitchen to find beth up and about. fuck.

"george, why is he here?"

beth's voice sent chills down my spine as i shrugged because i honestly had no idea why he was here. it was currently 2am on a sunday and i was so confused. i grabbed a water bottle from the fridge and began to drink from it. beth sighed softly before wrapping her arms around me and laying her head on my chest.

"he can't keep using you as a security blanket, george."

she mumbled into my neck, kissing the skin softly.

"i know, babe but he needs me. i'm his best mate."

i laid my chin on top of beth's head, closing my eyes.

"don't let him control you."

"i won't."

"you're way too nice, george andrew."

"i know."
