Soul Killer

He is back

It was a quiet night. So quiet I could finally sleep peacefully.

But it was too good to be true. The sound of my phone's ringtone woke me up.

I looked at my alarm clock. It said that it was 2 am. Who the hell would call me so early in the morning?

I answered the phone, but as soon as I heard the voice of a caller my whole day got worse. It was my boss. And that only meant that they found some dead victim. And it had to be murdered in some gruesome way…

I had to quickly get to the murder scene. It was in some abandoned house in the middle of a forest. So predictable…

After I came to the house, there were at least 15 police cars. There too was my boss, already waiting for me since they can't move anything without me saying so. I need to see the original scene and then they can move the body to the headquarters.

»Hey boy, you can't go there«. Said a policeman.

»Its good he's Jared Stradys, the detective we were waiting for«. Said, my boss.

Thnx boss.

»Well, let's go inside, detective Stradys. You to Jake. That's your new partner.

But be warned Jake, if you have a weak stomach it's better for you to stay outside.« my boss warned him.

Yup, I agree with the boss. I'm Jared Stradys by the way. Welcome to the division of murders and serial killers. Here you'll only see the most gruesome murders. So if you're not ready for it, it's better if you go home right now Jake.

»Well, thanks for the warning but I think I'm good. I think I can handle some dead bodies. It can't be that bad.«

He's so arrogant… But he'll figure out it's not an easy job one way or another.

As soon as we got inside, the smell hit us. It was so bad. Kinda like old blood mixed with acid. I know serial killers are sick but this one is the worst. He is right for the psychiatric hospital. Well, he might be the worse case I have ever had. No one has ever managed to get away with murders since I came to this position. So I have no doubt I will find him and get him to prison.

The feminine body was chained on metal board and it was turned so it was facing a mirror. The serial killer must have wanted the victim to see her face and look how »ugly« she became. But that was not all. There was no skin on the corpse, not even on the eyes. So she couldn't pass out of exhaustion. And flesh was burned. It had to hurt so much.

By the looks of it, she had to have strong body since she survived for at least 72 hours. There was no way we could identify her.

But what is the killers motive?

I better look out for clues in the house. Jake call out for me if you find anything on the left side of the house, okay?  »Ya don't worry I'll tell as soon as I find anything that could help with the investigation«. He told me.

I looked for clues but haven't found anything. There is only one room left for me to investigate. But boss called me, said there was something I should see.

When I got to the dead body I saw a mark on the back, right in the middle of the shoulder blades. The mark of the Leviathan.

That only means that the Soul Killer is back. But that couldn't be true. I have caught him years ago. At least that's what we thought. We had caught some guy and had him executed by the electric chair. I guess it was the only imposter. A very good imposter at that, and stupid. To pretend to be someone that is sentenced to death. Sure the Soul Killer was famous but you cant get famous just because you die for him.

But that's, not the point here. He is the most dangerous killer I have ever faced. And he is back after a year of resting I assume.

That puts us in danger. I can't find the motive for his killing. It's like he kills whoever he gets the hold of it. But it can't be like that. He is too accurate and smart. He has a motive for killing everyone he kills but we have to find it before we can catch him.

The body was being moved to obduction room, so we went back to headquarters.

We need to make plans on how to find the killer, or else we might not be alive the next day. You never know what could come to his mind. He can lose control and starts killing all the people. There isn't a lot of chance that this would happen but it can happen like it has happened before.

»We've got no clues, he didn't leave any fingerprints or hair. He might be the best killer we have ever seen«, said my boss. And I have to agree.

Jared, I'll leave everything to you, I know I can trust you with this. That you will find the killer. Take care, I'm going home now. You two should too, get some sleep and find the killer.

Bye boss, we said simultaneously.

Well, Jake, I'll see you in the
mornin'. Ehh I mean in 3 hours. Get some sleep, you'll need it.
