"Eira, come on!" I groan in frustrations. As it turns out, Eira isn't just spooky. She's extremely stubborn. It's my first day working with her in the round pen. Lunging started out shaky.
As soon as I sent Eira off, she ran off and started broncing. Whenever I tell her to change directions, she gallops in front of me, nearly running me over. If I can't even get her to change directions, how will I train her to be a good english horse.
"How's it going?" Mel asks, going to sit on the fence.
"Not particularly well." I reply, "Eira is going to be really hard to train."
"Just have patience."
I nod and ask Eira to stop. After catching her, I lead her to the wash rack and rinse her off. I then put her in the indoor arena. She runs around a bit before rolling. I decide to leave her in there for a while. In the meantime, I go back to the barn and tack up Dakota.
Mel also tacks up Twilight and we ride down to the field. Despite rain clouds, we walk all the way across the field and into the woods. Our horses hooves crunch against the dried-up leaves. All is calm, until we hear laughter in the distance.
Dakota rears. I hold on for dear life and attempt to calm him down. He bucks one time, catching me off guard. I slide off of Dakota's side, landing on my feet.
"Are you okay?" Mel asks me. I nod, in response. Dakota stares at something in the distance. I try to find what he's so scared of, but fail to see anything. I get back on and Mel and I continue walking. As we do, I hear laughing again.
Just a moment later, three people on horses emerge from a gathering of trees. I immediately recognize one of the people. It's Lexi, on a horse I don't recognize. To her left is another girl with curly black hair and hazel eyes. To her right is a boy. He has sandy blonde hair and green eyes.
"Oh, how nice to see you two." Lexi says, "Enjoying your ride?"
I nod, then look over at Mel. Her eyes are fixed on the boy beside Lexi. He's looking back at her. Apparently, I'm not the only one who notices them.
"Do you two know each other?" Lexi asks, her voice bitter. Mel looks away and starts blushing. We are all quiet. I decide to break the awkward silence.
"So did you get a new horse, Lexi?" I ask, not really caring.
"Yes, but this one isn't it. You of all people should know, Mckenzie." She says, "After all, you're the one training her."
What?
A/N
Heyooooooooooooooo. Long time, no see. So I just want to say some stuff:
1) I write as a hobby. I don't have a schedule and I don't feel obliged to write chapters on a regular basis. I do this just for fun and I have more important things to deal with. I appreciate everyone who likes my books, but please don't comment on every chapter, "please update soon," because I most likely won't.
2) Okay, so I'm not sure why Born to Ride is so popular because I want to gag every time I read it. I wrote it a long time ago, when my writing skills were still mediocre (not that they're much better now.) So, please feel free to comment when you see a mistake on that book and this book.
3) If you would like to see more of me and my horses, please feel free to check out my YouTube channel. It's called Crazymeg1. I don't have many subscribers, so if you subscribe and leave a comment on my most recent video (and CWD), I will dedicate a chapter of this book to you. One of my videos is at the top.
