"Dakota, come here!" I call to him. He snorts and trots over. I can't believe that just three short years ago, he wouldn't get close to anyone. It's amazing to see how far he's come. I pat his neck before haltering him.

"I know that you don't want to go." I say, "I'm going to miss this place too." I start to walk to the gate and go out. Our trailer is ready for us to put Twilight and Dakota in. Today is my last day at Oakridge Stables. Mel and I were both happy, yet sad to hear that we are moving to a big property with a barn for the horses.

Kayleen comes up to me and hugs me. I'm probably going to miss her the most. Mel walks over too and hugs Kayleen. I hope we still visit very often.

"Promise me that you will both visit at least once every month." She says to us. Mel nods in response. I do the same. We load Dakota and Twilight into the trailer and hop into the truck. Once we start driving I remember all of the good memories  that I had here. I met my horse, Mel and so many friends here.

I learned to ride here and spent a lot of my time here. I can't help closing my eyes and remembering my favorite memories.

Two Years Ago:

"He's your lease horse now. Do you like him?" Mel asks me. I slowly walk towards him. He nickers lightly at me. I rub his forehead, then hug him. I love him so much. Nobody could ever replace him.

One and a Half Years Ago:

I trot him around, then push him into a fast lope. A lope turn into a gallop and a gallop turns into bucks and rears.

I grip his back with my knees and he finally calms down. Right when I let my guard down he bucks and I fly off of his back.

One Year Ago:

Mel and I head out to the stable. I walk past a stall and glance at the new name plate on it.

Dakota

Owner McKenzie Burton

Wait, what? I only lease him, unless... I gasp and cover my mouth with my hands. Mel's phone call with Kayleen... It was about Dakota!

-----------End of Flashbacks-----------

Mel nudges my shoulder, bringing me back into reality. By now Mel knows that I was just thinking about the good times here. In one moment, we go out the gate and say a "see you later," to Oakridge Stables.
