It was a normal day for me. I was walking to school, wondering what wonders would happen today. "Wait up!" I turn around and see an annoying girl running towards me. I quickly recognize her short, black hair and glasses. That's Mai, my childhood friend that I used to walk with to school. Lately, she's been sleeping in though. "AHHH! I overslept again! Did I keep you waiting? Sorry!" she said, panicked. "Eh, it's fine. Besides, I was waiting for my... fuck I got nothing for my excuse to wait for you," I said a bit angry. "Ehehe~ it's because we're friends, dummy! Either way you'd have to have wait for me, or else I would be super, duper sad!" "I guess..." I said, not wanting to start an argument this early in the day. We walk to school, quiet, until she finally says,"So, you planning on joining any clubs this year?" Goddamnit. I didn't have anything on my mind. "Uh, Anime Club?" I say panicked. "Anime? Zach don't turn into a weeb! It's bad for your health boi," she says casually. "Why don't you check out my club after school, Zach? It's so much fun!" "The gaming club? Aren't you the vice president?" "Yeah! And if you join now, you'll get free Razor lanyards and cookies!" "I'll think about it..." I say, only thinking about the cookies. "Kay! I'll see ya then! Bye!" Mai says as she runs off, happily to class.
A club to join? I'm not sure if I would want to join a gaming club. I wonder what types of people will be there. Maybe a bunch of girls will be there. Hmmm..... "Zach! Zach!" I jump, startled. "Zach! I've been calling your name for the last 5 minutes! What happened, man? You okay?" Mai says a bit too loudly. "Y-yeah I'm fine. I just got lost in my own thoughts," I say, still scared. "Alright! If you say so! Follow me to the club!" Mai says, cheerfully. I almost forgot about checking the club out. We go to the back of the school right next to our middle school, where all the other clubs go to if you wanted to join one. We turn a corner and I see a girl outside with her phone out. She looks up and gets surprised. "O-Oh! Mai! Y-you actually brought a new member!" the girl says. She seems to have a paper plate on her face, covering her identity, yet she seems nice and looks nice. I don't say anything because I'm surprised about a girl in front of the classroom, waiting for me. "H-hi," I say awkwardly. I walk in the classroom with both of them, by my side. "A boy? You brought a boy? Way to kill the mood here!" a short girl with short but longer hair than Mai's. I can't help but notice that she has Razor lanyards and cookies in her hands. "Hey! Memey! Those cookies look good!" Mai yells at the short girl. "Thanks," Memey answers back."Hey my nibba, Vampire, how was your B.C. day?" Memey asks the girl with the paper plate. "Pretty much staple to me. Wasn't the best," she answers back. I all of a sudden get triggered and really mad about the word staple. "V-Vampire... Please don't say that word ever again please. It makes me triggered REEEE," I say trying to contain my anger. I turn around and see a girl that has black, long hair, pulled into a pony tail, with black, beautiful eyes. "Luna?" She was in my homeroom class, math, and P.E. class last year. She's beautiful, athletic, and smart, and strangely addicted to food... "Oh! Hi Zach! Welcome to the club! I'm the president of the gaming club!" Luna says excited. "Never expected you to be president of the gaminf"Hey Zach! you can sit wherever but I suggest sitting near all of us so you can get to know us better!" Mai says. I sit next to Mai, feeling a bit uncomfortable around so many girls. "So, what kind of video games do you like to play?" Memey and Luna ask at the same time. "U-uh..." I've never played many games except Minecraft and Team Fortress 2. "F-first person shooters and Minecraft?" I say, a bit nervous. "Oh... Have you ever played Overwatch?" Vampire asks desperately. "No..." I say. I see a bunch of gaming laptops stacked on top of eachother. Mai walks up to them and takes the stack while grabbing some gaming mouses from another table in the corner. She walks up to our table that we are sitting on and gently places a laptop in front of each of us. "Let's play some video games!" she says. Memey goes to grab the cookies she made. She handed each person two, with a napkin. When she hands one to me, she frowns. I look up at her. "W-why are you looking at me? Y-you're so gay!" She hands me the two cookies and goes back to her desk blushing. I take a bite. I notice that the cookies are shaped like video game controllers. It tastes like vanilla with blueberries on top. I smile at the taste. I open my computer and see a bunch of video games other than Minecraft and Team Fortress 2. An application catches my eye. A peace sign with yellow and grey. I go up to Vampire. "What's this application?" I ask a bit quietly. "T-that's Overwatch... One of the games we play all of the time here at this club. It's a very popular first-person shooter with lots of detail and there's a hero for everyone," she replies. "Oh, thanks!" I say as I run back to my desk. I set my laptop down on the table. I double click the "Overwatch" application. I feel a presence behind me. It's Mai. She's watching me play. There's a tutorial. I pass the tutorial and suprisingly, it's a fun game. I learn how to play as Soldier 76. For some reason, I'm actually good at this game. Mai cheers every time I get a kill. This encourages me to try harder. I play a bit of Soldier 76 in Practice AI: Hard. It seems that I have a 30 player kill streak. I smile at the notification on the top of my screen. "Omg! You're so good at this game, Zach!" Mai says to me. Vampire comes over, then Memey, finally Luna comes. By now I'm playing Competitive Play, beating all of the players going against me. We all see a sparkling screen with the word "Victory" on top of it. We all cheer. "Zach? Are you sure you haven't played Overwatch before?" Luna asks. "Y-yeah," I studder. "You're really good at this game! Even better than me!" Luna says. "I bet you're good," I say. She goes to her desk and grabs her computer to my desk. Next thing I know, everyone brings their laptop to me. Vampire and Memey arrange the desks to form a bigger table. We all get in a group and make a custom game, 1v1 with Luna and I. Turns out, won. We all played some comp together for the rest of the hour. It was almost time for us to go home. "Okay! Good job everyone! You all did great in comp! Thanks to our new member, we were able to raise our ranks!" Luna said excitingly. "Yeah, t-thanks a lot, Zach..." Vampire says quietly but sweetly. "Y-yeah, you did great in comp. But don't take that complement the wrong way, dummy!" Memey yelled. "Mhm! You were amazing in comp! Carry me more please!" Mai says. "Now you guys can bring your temporary laptops home to play video games with. Don't break it and make sure to bring it with you every day for club!" Luna exclaims. "WAIT! I didn't even say that I was joining this club!" I yelled. "B-but..." Mai says. "I thought..." Luna says. "O-Oh..." Vampire says. "..." Memey stays quiet. These girls look at me with disappointed eyes. I give in. Their all too cute. "Fine. I'll join the club," I say. They all cheer and Luna walks up to me. "Welcome to the Gaming Club, Zach!" she says. She puts a Razor lanyard around my neck and hugs me. One by one, the girls all make a group hug. A few minutes pass and they break the hug. Memey and Vampire go to fix the tables. Mai puts each laptop inside each of our backpacks. She hands me my backpack. We say bye to the club and she smiles. "Do you wanna walk home together?" she asks. "Sure," I reply. As we walk she asks me, "So, how's the club?" "I think I like it. It's fun, and I'm suprised there are not many people are in the club," I say. "Yeah..." she quietly replies. We wave our hands and say bye. Home, sweet, home. I walk in as I see Mai walk in her home. I go to my room and take out my laptop. I play some Overwatch and I figured out Fortnite was on it. I started playing that, too. Finally, I go to sleep, thinking about what would come the next day.
