SPOILERS IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE MOVIE !¡!¡

It was early in the morning on a very cold September day. Steve lay asleep in bed, noticeably uncomfortable. To anyone else watching it would look as if he were having a bad dream. While their idea would be close, it was really much worse. This isn't just a bad dream for Steve; it is his worst nightmare that was at one point, so close to becoming reality.

Steve's Dream (Steve's POV)

He couldn't remember me. Oh god this is the worst thing that could have ever happened. When I lost him it was bad, but the fact that he is alive and can't even remember who I am is just absolutely horrible. The blank way he is looking at me, like he has no recognition of who I am or who he is to me, makes me want to go crawl into a pit in the middle of nowhere and die.

My hope for death (not that I really want to die right now) may actually becoming true. This man, James Buchanan Barnes, did in fact actually recognize me. However, it was not in the way that I had hoped for. He knew who I was because I was his mission. When I looked into those icy blue eyes I saw determination. He was set on killing me no matter what

We had been fighting for a good half hour at this point. My blond hair was very disheveled, I had a split lip, cuts and bruised had been placed all over my body, and I had a very deep and painful stab would right underneath my ribcage. I looked like absolute shit while Bucky, or as the others called him; The Winter Soldier, barely had a scratch on him. His long hair, while very greasy, was still perfectly in place as it had been from the start. I had gotten very few punches on him and he had no visible marks.

This was going to change soon because while he was my best friend, I knew I had to save the world. I took my shield and threw it at him. He knew it was coming but I used it as a distraction. He was occupied in catching the very patriotic weapon flying towards him, so I went and tackled him. He struggled for dominance but I was not going to give up. I just kept punching him as hard as I could, tears streaming down my dirt covered face as I did so. Then I got one more look into hid cold blue eyes and I couldn't do it anymore. He was still my best friend. As much as I knew I needed to do this, I just couldn't.

He soon maneuvered us so that he was on top of me. The blood from his face slowly dripped onto me. He pulled out a knife that was in a sheath on the leg of his uniform. Ha, and Howard said HYDRA wouldn't just attack me with a pocket knife. I did nothing as he just held the knife to my throat. He looked so confused as I just lay there, not even trying to get out of his grasp.

"Why are you just sitting there doing nothing? I'm trying, and am just about succeeding, in killing you. I've fought all of those you have worked with and none of them had ever given up. Why is the great Captain America giving in after all of his hard work? I wouldn't say you're scared because I've read up on your fighting history. There is something else and I can't quite figure it out." It was just like Bucky to suddenly stop exactly what he was doing to go into some sort of rant. Whether he was the Winter Soldier or not, I guess that is one thing that would change about him.

Then I realized, if that didn't change, then maybe there was still some of my Bucky in there somewhere. I looked him in the eyes and told him exactly why I was not fighting back.

"I'm done fighting you. You are my best friend Bucky. Trust me, that will never change. I'm With you 'till the end of the line." The pressure of the knife against my throat had lessened. I could now see confusion in those big blue eyes. His face looked exactly like that of my best friend again. He was about to say something but then stopped. Anything that he was thinking had just gone away. He was back to the Winter Soldier. The knife was soon very close to my neck again.

"I may be your friend in your little world, but you will always and only be my mission." He had said those final words and I could see no remorse in his eyes. They were again just clouded with a look of determination. I felt my heart breaking because I knew I had lost him for good. Then everything had gone black. James Buchanan Barnes, Bucky my dearest friend, was really gone. He really was the Winter Soldier after all, and now his mission was complete.

Steve's POV

I sprang forward from my laying position and I was now sitting straight up. I was covered in a cold sweat. It had managed to make its way around my whole body to the point where my bed was soaked. I was panting heavily and my vision was blurry. My eyesight finally refocused and I looked at the alarm clock to see that the illuminated red numbers only read that it was four in the morning.

I thought back to my dream. It was so realistic and if I didn't know better, I would say that it had actually happened. We were just fighting and I had no idea why. It was not even the same place that we had had our last battle; we were in the middle of nowhere.

I sighed in relief of the fact that I was still alive. I was actually more ecstatic about the fact that my last real encounter with Bucky actually ended in him recognizing me. He had let me go that day and I was so grateful, not only for letting me go, but for the fact that he remembered who I was.

I looked around my dark room inspecting it. I lay on my bed which was in the middle of the room. My nightstand sat right next to my bed with a lamp and the alarm clock on it. Then there was a dresser to my right, which was right next to the closet. That was all that there really was in here. I was not a person who required to be surrounded by useless objects. I had what I needed and that was all.

I decided I should probably go back to sleep so I went back to lying on my way too comfortable bed. It was too soft and I really hated it. I shut my eyes even thought I already knew sleep would not overcome me again. I opened my eyes and just stared up at the ceiling. My mind wandered and I started to think of all my childhood memories with Bucky.

Then all of a sudden I heard a knock at the door.

_________________________________________________________________________

So yeah, this is my first Stucky. I hope you like it!!!! I'm not the best when it comes to writing because I don't follow how things are supposed to be written. I kind of just leave things as I type them even thought that's really bad cx I know there are some differences in characters appearance between the comics and movies, so I'm just going with the movies. Well like I said, I hope you enjoy reading this!
