"Shhh..." My mom shushed me.

I heard footsteps nearby. I was so scared. And irritated. The bush that we were hiding in was poking at my fur and messing it up, but that didn't matter right now. This was a life or death situation, or in the Pokemon world, free or captured.

I suddenly saw a human Trainer walk by the bush. I started trembling intensely. I was so scared. Before I could stop myself from shaking any further, the Trainer turned towards our bush. He was holding a pokeball in his hand. As he took one step towards our bush, Mom gave me a sad look before jumping out and facing the Trainer, hissing.

"Absol, let's go!" The Trainer threw the pokeball and an Absol suddenly appeared.

"Use Night Slash on that Delcatty!" The Trainer ordered.

The Absol's claws grew longer and black. It lunged towards Mom who dodged out of the way. She ran up to Absol and started using Fury Swipes furiously. The Absol took a step back, it's face bleeding from the attack.

"Use Bite!" The Trainer commanded.

Absol opened its mouth and it's sharp teeth grew bigger as it lunged towards Mom once again. She wasn't prepared this time and was bitten on her back. She let out a loud yelp in pain and stumbled on her paws. While Absol drew back, Mom unleashed a Blizzard. Snow and ice flew everywhere, making me squint so that I could see Mom better. I saw her turn towards me.

"Run!" I heard her yell.

I stared at her. I couldn't leave her. I couldn't live on without her.

"I promise! I'll catch up with you later!" She urged.

Suddenly I heard the Trainer call. "Absol! Multiple Shadow Balls!" I saw a faint purple aura somewhere in the snow.

"Go!" Mom yelled.

With that, I ran. Faster than I had before. I kept running until I heard a scream. Mom's scream. I jumped and turned around, speeding off in the direction of the fight.

When I got closer to the bush, I could barely see Mom's figure sprawled on the floor. The Trainer threw a pokeball at her and it absorbed her. I had to hold back a shout. I stared at the pokeball, knowing that I couldn't do anything and hoping that she was going to het out. The pokeball shook once.

Please...

Twice.

Please...

Three times.

"No..." I whispered in disbelief.

"Ding!" The noise echoed on my mind. Stars appeared around the pokeball. I had never heard that sound in my life, but I knew what it meant. It's as though pokemon have an instinct to know what that sound is and what it means.

My mom was just captured.

I rushed off in the opposite direction of the Trainer, leaving my mom behind. I ran and ran, just wanting to get out of there. I could hear the rhythmic pattern of my pawsteps.

Thump, thump, thump, thump, thump...

I soon started not being able to tell which was my pawsteps and which was my heartbeat. The trees around me kept coming and going from my view. The leaves in the trees kept swishing back and forth in the wing. The rustling of leaves sounded like a light, yet sad tune. As though the trees and all of nature felt sympathetic.

I found a burrow under a tree and decided to stop there since my legs felt worn out. I walked inside and there was a stale scent lingering, meaning that someone had been here once, but they haven't been back in a long time. As soon as I hit the floor I started crying. The emotions that I was holding in spilled out. I couldn't take it anymore. I sobbed uncontrollably and laid on the floor.

I cried and cried until I was drained of tears. After all that crying, I suddenly felt hungry.i forced myself on my feet as I walked out of the burrow. I looked around and spotted an Oran berry tree not too far from my hole. I plucked a few off and brought them back to the hole. I ate them in silence while staring at the pink scarf around my neck. Mom had given it to me along with a white hat as soon as I had hatched from an egg. The sudden thought of Mom had made me start crying again. I sobbed again, over and over until I eventually cried myself to sleep, cold from the lack of warmth that was usually given to me by Mom.

"Mom..." I muttered before falling asleep.

Paul's POV

I slowly walked back to the den from visiting my brother's grave. How long had it been since he died? A month? Everyone in my family was shocked to find out that he had passed out during battle, but not as shocked as me. Reggie was the only one who truly cared for my well being, while everyone else tossed me to the curb for being different.

I walked up to the den and saw my parents talking. They were both Zoroark, along with the rest of the pack. They were my birth parents, but they treated me like they didn't care for me at all, which they didn't. They would "train me" but in reality, they were hurting me, abusing me. They would throw powerful attacks at me and leave me all bruised and scratched, bleeding most of the time. I have no idea why they did it, and I don't think that I wanted to find out. Reggie would usually find me and try to patch me up. I started growing quiet and cold towards others at a young age. I don't talk to my other pack members and would often stay alone in the forest. It was more relaxing than being with them.

I quietly walked into the den and my parents started growling at me. They had hatred in their eyes. I don't understand what I did to them but I'm amazed that I haven't been kicked out or killed yet.

"Paul." My father hissed. "Me and your mother have been talking. We have decided to ban you from the pack. You can never come back."

What timing.

"Why?" I asked surprised.

My mom growled. "You are a disgrace to the pack. You are weak. You don't train and you don't look like us. You're purple!"

I inwardly scoffed. I trained everyday for many hours ever since they started to torture me. They were to busy hating me to care. And to be honest, I liked my fur. Being unique might have been one of the reasons that they hated me, but it makes me feel better know that I'm nothing like them.

"You cannot come back. We do not want to see you again. You have to leave in ten minutes. If any longer, we will attack you." They both turned and walked away.

I growled. I'm fine with leaving. I always wanted to leave this rotten place. I just didn't want them to follow or find me. I wanted to be rid of them. I turned and started walking away. I used Punishment on a small tree and it fell over. I smirked my power and kept walking.

I saw Reggie's grave after a few minutes of walking. I walked over to it and stared at the rock that rested above the mound of dirt. I stood there in silence until I suddenly spoke.

"Sorry bro... I don't think I'll see you here again... I... I hope you're fine wherever you are," I turned around and started walking again. A small, tiny tear slid down my face.

"Cya bro."

Welcome to If Words Meant Anything | Ikarishipping Fanfic! I love ikarishipping so much, and when I searched for some fanfics solely on the topic, I couldn't find much! So I decided to add one to the mix. I hope you all enjoyed the first chapter. I'm currently writing other stories as well, so they might come out slower, but since I love writing my fanfics so much, I promise to write constantly. Thanks for reading! Ciao!
