Dawn's POV

As soon as we got back, everyone decided to chill around and relax. Professor Rowan went and healed up Drew. I on the other hand (or paw eheh) wanted to go outside and train since I had just evolved.

I was outside training my Disarming Voice on a tree. Pink sound waves came from me, but the best it could do was shake the tree a bit and make some leaves fall off.

I sighed. This move would definitely need to be worked on.

I started preparing a Thunderbolt to try out on the same tree, and just then, a voice from behind me said, "Training, huh?"

I was so surprised that I completely missed my aim and the Thunderbolt twisted around and aimed behind me.

"Watch out!" I shouted as I quickly turned around to witness May nimbly dodge the unaimed attack.

I quickly raced towards her. "I'm so sorry May! I almost hit you!"

May shook her head. "No, it's fine. I'm the one who startled you. Anyways, everyone else is resting. You sure you wanna train right now?" She asked.

I nodded in response. "Yeah. I evolved, so my moves have gotten stronger, but they're more out of control now. I want to become stronger," I stated fiercely.

May smirked. "Then I'll help."

I stared at her in surprise. "You sure? You could chill with everyone else."

"It's fine. Besides, I haven't been getting much spotlight in this fanfic anyways," She shrugged.

"Spotlight? Fanfic? What's that?" I asked, tilting my head.

"I- uh... Never mind. Let's just start," May said as she walked further in front of me.

"Alright let's work on that Thunderbolt of yours first. Just aim at me."

"Aim at you?! Are you serious?!" I shouted, flabbergasted.

"I'll dodge it don't worry," May said encouragingly. "I just need to see what we need to work on first."

I looked at her unsurely, but went with it anyways. "Well, if you're sure..."

I felt the electricity running through my fur as I charged up the Thunderbolt in my body. I glanced at May and unleashed the charged bolt. The yellow energy raced towards her from the sky, but it was slow enough for her to dodge. All she did was side step casually. May looked at the charred grass that was hit by the Thunderbolt.

"Hmm... well, looks like the first thing that we'll work on is your aim. Then speed to recharge the move, and then the strength into it to make it more powerful," May said thoughtfully.

I nodded and watched as she walked into the lab, only to come back out with a few empty Soda cans. She set then at different ranges from me and clapped her hands when she was done.

"Alright let's aim for the closest one first, Dawn. Try to hit it with your Thunderbolt," May said.

I charged up the Thunderbolt and aimed it at the closest can. I released the energy and shot it. The electricity just barely missed the can, hitting just less than a centimeter beside it.

"Dang it," I muttered to myself.

"It's fine. See? This is why we train. Besides, it was really close. Try it again," May said.

I nodded and tried it again. This time, it actually hit its mark.

"Yes!" I shouted happily.

May smiled. "Good job! Now let's try it with the other ones."

It took about twenty minutes later until I finally managed to hit them all. May sure brought a lot of cans. I was somewhat exhausted and panting a bit hard.

"Great! We'll need to work on that accuracy a bit better, so let's do it more later. For now, let's try the speed to use it again faster. Since Thunderbolt is a pretty strong move, it takes awhile to try to use it again. So let's focus on making the wait time shorter," May explained.

I nodded determinedly. I was glad that May could help me with my training.

About half an hour later, we finished training on the Thunderbolt. My accuracy was getting better, it took way less longer to use the move now then before, and it was becoming more powerful as well. We would train a bit more later, but now we were going to focus on another move.

"Alright, let's start training your Shadow Ball no-" May started, before getting cut off.

"Hey guys! Come in now! We're gonna eat!" Serena called from the door.

I looked at the sky dumbfounded. It was already that late? Sure enough, the sky was a dark, grayish blue and orange hue and the sun was just about to meet the horizon.

"Looks like we trained so hard that we didn't even realize how late it got," I laughed as I faced May.

She nodded with a laugh. "Yeah, I guess so."

As May started walking towards the lab, she stopped when she realized that I wasn't following.

"You coming, Dawn?" May asked.

I nodded. "Just a bit. I wanna catch my breath."

She turned around and kept walking until she reached the door and went inside.

I turned my head back towards the sky and saw that the sky was now mostly bright orange and yellow. The trees from the forest beside us were now pitch black and devoid of any detail because of the bright rays turning them to shadows.

In the shrubbery and behind some trees a deeper into the forest, I saw a flash of a figure moving from shadow to shadow. I was so curious that I decided to find out what it was. I walked towards the first bushes and leaped over them, now in the bright yet shady forest.

"What was that anyways?" I thought to myself.

The image of the shadow from earlier today flashed in my mind and I hummed thoughtfully. What if it was the same thing from before? Was it following us? But why...?

A shiver ran down my spine but I shook the feeling off and kept walking deeper into the forest.

When I got to the area that I thought I saw the shadowy figure in, I stopped and looked around.

"Nothing here..." I muttered to myself.

Just then, a loud rustle came from somewhere beside me and a tall figure jumped in front of me. I would've screamed, but I was tackled to the floor and a hand- no, a paw held my muzzle shut.

The figure growled at me, baring it's fangs and showing it's sharp teeth. I trembled in fear.

What was going on?!

I looked into the eyes of the figure and a chill spread through me. It felt like just looking into its eyes could leave me paralyzed. Suddenly, the eyes dilated and widened. The grip of the paw holding my mouth shut loosened.

"I-It's y-you..." The figure whispered in shock.

Kill. Me. Plz. I need a breaaakkk also, sorry for not updating in so long
