"Hey!" a beautiful stranger calls out for me. "Here is an empty seat for you", she says picking her bag pack from the chair onto her laps.I'm pretty hesitant to take the offer, since the chair is between her and another stranger. I assume they are best friends because they wore matching red lipstick and sleeveless Aztec t-shirts.
Trying not to come off as a rude person I take the offer anyway and seat.
"I'm Tiffany the natural haired girl whispers - but you can call me Tay. You want to know why?" she asks. I shake my head in response with no possible idea to her reasons why.
"Well because we are officially friends now," she says putting on a warm smile. That made her look even more prettier. My heart beat so fast, I couldn't believe those words came out of her mouth. Wow she's really sweet, I thought to myself. I sat more comfortably as if I had just been applauded by a huge crowd after receiving a golden medal. I guess making new friends won't be hard after all.
"That sounds great,"I heard myself saying with a smug smile.
I look to my right with the intention to get a name from the fierce gorgeous girl next to me. Yet I swear the face I just admired expressed completely the opposite after I politely ask, "Hey, what's your name?" to my surprise her face was hard.
After an awkward silent moment she gives me a fake smile "My name is Evelyn," followed by a wince that made me feel uneasy.
What in the devils I'm I playing at thinking that she would be polite too. Or perhaps I caught her off guard, because I'm certain I hadn't done a tiny thing that could possibly upset her.
Forcing the words out of my mouth knowing very well that wasn't the case.
"It's nice to meet you" I say with a forced smile.
"Likewise" she responds dryly.
I admit her hostile behavior has me feeling embarrassed, uncomfortable and little frightened to be around her now. But I will just have to ignore.
After hours of sitting in class, the irritable siren finally rings. Everybody is pleased and they rush out to the cafeteria. I'm almost as much as delighted as everyone that I won't have to feel uncomfortable anymore until Tiffany says softly "Let's go eat I'm dying to have some cheeseburger."
"No thank you, I would love to finish off my assignment first," I say looking at her big brown eyes then turning to Evelyn, Who was quick to say "Okay, will leave you behind. Let's go Tay" and pulled Tiffany by her arm.
"Hold on Evelyn," she elbows her dismissively and Evelyn rolls her blue-green eyes and turns away.
"You can't be serious. Aren't you hungry?" Tiffany pulls herself from Evelyn and moves closer to me.I sit here searching for the quick possible explanation that would convince her to go without me.
"I've got about 12 tasks at home that mom expects to be done, so if I don't do this now. I will never get the chance," I nodded trying to believe I managed to convince her.
"12! she exclaimed. Your mom better get a housekeeper, how do you manage?" she asked with a wry expression.
"She is looking to doing that....soon,"I say almost choking on my lies.
"She better. From the cafeteria will be at creative arts club room 45. You should come join us once you're done here," she said mildly.
"We would love to hang out with you. Isn't that right Evelyn?'' she warmly asks for her approval. Though it appears Evelyn was being backed into a corner.
''Well yeah supposedly,"Evelyn groans.
I'm left all alone in the class room when Tiffany and Evelyn go for lunch. The room looks much bigger now; I realize when my eyes idle around. I grab a novel Daddy's little girl from my black vintage bag, which dad gave me as a souvenir.
Its brown shinny leather cover smells old book, dust falls off as I flip through the pages, such that I sneeze.
I'm guessing dad didn't have enough time to dust it off, more so that he gave it to me on the last day of our departure. But it does look interesting. Before loneliness creeps its way I quickly dust off the novel and escape into daddy's little girl story.
Suddenly the pulling and pushing of chairs sounds from behind me, hesitantly I turn to find a tall teenage boy about 6 feet tall, searching for something he can't find and seems to be irritated by that.
"Where is that ball?" he groans almost to himself.
"Are you looking for that basketball?" I point to the far front corner of the class, where the basketball just laid.
"Ah yes! That's the thing I'm looking for," he breathed a huge sigh and stood straight. At the same instant moment when he walked up to me; my heart skipped, a wave of nervousness which is an understatement to what I'm feeling washed over me. "Oh my....His good looking,"I mentally admire him.
His unlike the boys back in my previous school, my teenage hormones admit. And I bet you would agree with me.
His golden dark skin, square jawline and kind yet sexy brown eyes convince me."The new girl... You're Cat right?" he gestured for a formal hand shake. "Yeah" I said feeling a smile from the corners of my mouth.
"Oh I'm Piet by the way," his pink lips grin.
"It's paradise to meet you. Ugh I mean it's nice to meet you Piet." Where on earth did that come from?Okay! I have no idea what's going on with me right now. But this good looking stranger needs to go now. I say to myself.
He chuckles and goes on to ask "Has anyone ever mentioned to you that you have a beautiful smile?"
"Well yeah but you're the first to compliment me today." I felt my cheeks burn up to the unexpected compliment.
"Awesome! It was pleasant talking to you, see you tomorrow," he grabbed the basketball and walks away.
"Oh by the way thanks for helping me find the ball," he then spins it with his finger almost showing off and walks out.
Once again I'm left alone in this slightly cold room. Although this time I'm awkwardly smiling alone, staring at the door and repeating the whole conversation in my heading.
Desperately hoping that I didn't say anything wrong or appeared stupid."Okay chill already, the boy never said he likes you." I mentally yell at myself.
But I guess I will be seeing Piet more often. I'm not trying to sound clingy but he said so himself. Fancy that! right? Oh snap -face palm- I'm not sure if we have the same classes but I will assume we do.
