our first official date

mike and el watch "Ghostbusters" in mike's basement as their first official date.

"Ghostbusters?"
-El held the vhs tape in her hands.
"Yes, I thought that you'd like to watch it...do you?"
-Mike looked into El's eyes in hope that she would say yes.
"Yes."
-El didn't know what this movie was about, but she'd do anything to make mike happy.

Mike smiled and inserted the movie into the television, then sets a bowl of popcorn next to him and El.

*Time hop..*
The ending credits play, Mike turns to his girlfriend who's asleep on his shoulder. He softly plays with her curly hair, as she slowly wakes up.

"What happened?"
-El rubs her eyes, obviously exhausted.
"You fell asleep during the movie, but it's okay!"
-Mike says in a flirty, yet sarcastic voice.
"Oh no, i'm sorry.."
-El frowns, thinking she upset her boyfriend.
"No, El, I'm not mad. I was being sarcastic!"
-Mike is angry at himself for making El feel bad.
"S-sarcasm?"
-El has never heard this word before.
"Yes, sarcasm. It's like saying something you don't mean, yet you make it sound like you mean it."
-Mike looks deep into El's eyes for the millionth time tonight.
"Oh, sarcasm. I understand."
-El smiles.
"Well, I better go to bed, it's pretty late. My mom should be able to take you home, ok?"
-Mike tries to get up, but El pulls on his arm.
"Sleepover?"
-El has heard Nancy say this word before.
"What?"
-Mike's eyes widen, obviously confused.
"C-can we cuddle on the couch until darkness comes?"
-El called sleep 'darkness', mike doesn't know why, but he thinks it's cute.
"Sure!"
-Mike smiles, but thinks about what will happen if his mom saw them.

Mike kisses the top of El's head as El is about to drift off into 'darkness' in his arms.
"I love you, Eleven Jane."
-Mike whispers.
"I love you too, Michael."
-El softly giggles, falling into 'darkness'.
