Here's more questions to get to know and create a deeper character, this is especially helpful if you want to write a character with a dark past.
PLEASE REMEMBER: Your characters don't have to be perfect and just another "mother Theresa" (She is a wonderful woman, and everyone should aspire to have a kind and humble heart like hers).
All I'm saying is, readers don't want perfect characters. We want to see their flaws. We want to see your characters crying, hurting, falling, running, breaking, and making stupid mistakes that know they shouldn't make, but for the love of literature, show them rising up, smiling, growing, owning up to their mistakes and trying to make it right, and standing up with courage, even if it takes them forever.
Blow out your character's candle light and lock them in a dark room, but don't leave them without a box of matches that they will be able find, or a key of some sort to get out.
