A dirty ray of light peaked through a small hole in a boarded up window. Something on the floor stirred inside a sleeping bag. After a few seconds a girl with long white hair and unusual blue eyes sat up stretching and yawning. She looked towards the window and sighed.
She put her hand out towards the dirty ray of light feeling what little warmth it gave off. For just a little while she sat there looking at the light on her hand. With another sigh she got up and heading over to an old broken dresser with only one drawer. A bucket with a lid on it sat next to it.
She took the lid off and peered in to a small amount of water. Shaking her head she put the lid back on the bucket and opened the only drawer to check her food supply.
"Like it or not I have to go out today for more." She thought to herself.
She hated going out but had no choice if she wanted to survive at all. Shaking her head again she got ready to leave the safety of the small bedroom. The room was located upstairs in an old run down house in a city neighborhood. It was the only room that was safe in that house.
She headed towards the door that had strange symbols on it. Looking back she shouldered a backpack and headed out, hoping to be back before dark. Although sometimes that didn't happened. She learned over time on what places to stay at while waiting for morning.
Closing the door she headed downstairs to a small foyer. With a look upstairs over her shoulder she opened the door and headed out. Standing on the porch she looked around to once was a place that was so full of life and sound. People walking or riding their bikes. To passing cars. Dogs barking and kids yelling while playing games. Loud music blaring from teens hanging out on the porch to adults sitting on lawn chairs on small lawns in front of their homes having a chat.
