Journal Entry Number One

Date: August 8th, 2017

Time: 9:46 P.M.

Today, I am on the roof, pondering over my thoughts.

It's dark outside. Not a lot of stars tonight. Only the bare sliver of a moon, it's crescent form is glowing against the dark clouds. Almost like it's fighting to be noticed by the people below. I wonder what it's like being the moon. Always moving around the Earth in a gentle orbit, shining its rays across the land.

Eomma and appa are downstairs scolding my brother, Im Yong Soo, for telling me about the new students joining our class tomorrow. Since appa is part of the board of trustees for our school, he knows certain things that other things shouldn't. Like for instance, several international students who are joining this year for the rigorous academics at Millbrook Middle School. Apparently this piece of information was supposed to be kept a secret, but appa accidentally let it slip in front of oppa, who eventually told me. Not knowing that our mother was listening to the whole exchange in the living room.

I hope that these members that are joining are mostly boys. Don't get me wrong, most of the male students in my class are fun to hang around but immature and not very appealing to look at. Hopefully being surrounded by more mature students, they may be able to follow the new student's example. -AC

Alina groaned, her black lashes fluttering against the jagged sunlight hitting her eyelids.

Lazily putting a pajama-clad arm to silence the ringing alarm clock, the young girl silently padded to the bathroom. Sleep blurring her vision until the cold water awakened the Korean with its icy freshness. Wincing, she gazed at her bedraggled reflection. The person that stood in front of her had raw, bloodshot eyes, crackly skin, and a mass of tangled dark hair. Painfully pulling a brush through the bushels of hair, she quickly stuck a toothbrush into her mouth. Last night had been more hectic than she needed.

"Im Yong Soo! Did you just tell your sister what I think you told her!?"

Her brother's mischievous smirk disappeared in a heartbeat.

Alina sweatdropped, watching as her mother stormed in from the living room.

"I'm out." She yelped, grabbing her journal and fleeing up the stairwell.

"YAH! CHUN CHA SOO YOU GET YOUR BUTT HERE RIGHT-"

But it was already too late. She had already escaped up to the safety of the twinkling stars.

"Hurry up, I don't have all day to drive you to school!" Called Alina's brother.

Sighing at her brother's annoyingly cheerful voice, she quickly checked if she looked presentable before rapidly changing into a simple outfit. After pulling on her knee high socks, white blouse colored with black breast pockets, and a black skirt, the girl hastily stuffed her personal diary into her backpack before strutting out the door. There her brother Yong Soo stood. A cheeky smile plastered on his innocent apple cheeks, and his brown hair swept sideways neatly. Today he was dressed in a simple, oversized hoodie, and casual ripped jeans. With his dark curl and innocent features, Yong had been deemed from his middle school days as "the sweetheart".
