VANESSA'S POV

After five years, I came back to my hometown. I came back to where I belonged. I'm still not sure about my dad's decision. He wanted me to take over our company in Canada.

"Ugh! Here goes nothing," I grunted.

Five years ago, my love confessed his feelings to me.

Five years ago, I hurt his feelings and left him without saying goodbye.

Five years passed, and yet he's still my love.

Yes, my feelings never changed.

Ever since I left Canada, we really didn't keep in touch with each other. I didn't know what happened to them, to him. I was really avoiding him the whole time.

"Mom! Dad!" I ran towards them.

"Sweetie!" my mom shouted, then she hugged me.

Finally, I'm already home. My dad told me to take a rest first until tomorrow. I'll start work on Monday. But instead of lying on my bed, I decided to go out and buy myself a coffee. And since Starbucks is just how many blocks away from here, I decided to walk.

"Ah, shoot!"

"Oh, sorry!"

"It's okay, just be careful—" When I raised my head, I saw him. We were both shocked, but I still managed to speak. "K-Karl..." was the only word that came out of my mouth.

"JK!" a girl shouted. Looks like he's not alone. He's with Jasmine. Well, of course.

"Vanessa? Vanessa!" She finally recognized me.

"Hi, Jasmine," I greeted and smiled. Half of me was happy to see them, my best friends, but also half of me is broken too... to see them together.

"So good to see you again! It's been... like maybe three or four years?" she asked.

"Five," Karl said while staring at me.

"Oh yeah! Where are you heading, best friend?" Jasmine asked.

"I was... I was planning to buy coffee." I can still sense that he's staring at me, but I'm scared that if I look at him, I'll see the anger in his eyes.

"Oh! I was hoping we could chat or anything, but we're heading in the opposite direction. If you want, let's talk tomorrow! Your house?" She looks happy, maybe because she's with him.

"Sure! My house. Before lunchtime. Bye, I really have to go. Time is running."

"Okay! Bye Vanessa! See you tomorrow. JK, let's go!" Then she waved goodbye. I looked at him one more time before I left, and caught him staring at me.

After I received my coffee, I headed home. I can't believe it! It's my first day here, and I have already seen him! them! together? I finished my coffee and decided to eat dinner. My parents went to work already, home alone again.

I can still remember when my parents are at work, Karl will always come here and talk to me, watch movies with me, and play games with me. How I miss those days. I can already feel my tears.

When I opened my eyes, It was already nine in the morning. I took a bath and wore my house clothes. I ate cereal for breakfast, then I told our maid then I'll cook our lunch. At eleven AM, I heard the doorbell ring, maybe Jasmine has finally arrived.
