Story Background:
The world in which these stories takes place in is one where werewolves, vampires, and other 'fictional' creatures coexist with the human species. But humans have no knowledge of their existences.
The vampire species have the tendency to live in small groups or 'clans' with other vampires in order to help and protect each other. They usually pretend to be a family or a group of friends living with each other. There are also a 'clan leader' in these groups, which are the ones who started the clan.
Similar to the werewolf species, vampires can have mates or 'beloveds' as they call them. But sadly it is nearly impossible to find your true beloved; because vampires live for so long, their beloved could be born at any point in time. They could be born a century from now, or could be dying from old age as we speak. It is why many vampires choose their beloveds. Gender doesn't matter to them.
Besides that, vampires cannot reproduce sexually. Their bodies are essentially corpses held in stasis by some evil magic fueled by the life force they draw when drinking the blood of a human or animal. Vampires are unable to conceive a child since they don't produce sperm or ova. They reproduce by turning humans into vampires.
A common question that appears when discussing the vampire species is: why are vampires so beautiful? The answer to that is that vampires were made to be beautiful in order to lure victims to their death.
Now unlike the werewolf species, vampires don't have their own religion. Usually they resume believing in whatever religion they did before being turned. You see, the vampire species was created by a witch in the 1800s with the assistance of the God of Night (for reasons unknown). She had wanted to save her husband from death and have him be by her side for eternity, since she had planned to have a very long life. With the help of the God of Night, she was able to succeed, but at a cost. As stated before, vampires needed to draw blood in order to sustain their immortal form. The witch's husband began to kill others in the dead of night, drinking until there was no blood left in their bodies. She tried to reason with her husband's cravings, but he was too far gone. She knew if she didn't do anything, many people would die. So with a heart filled with sorrow, she ended her husband's life with a silver knife to the heart. But what the witch didn't know was that her husband had already turned many other humans, and created the vampire population.
