Luke made his way to UCLA to see his best friend Michael and his girl friend Cindy. He needed a serious break from school even though midterms were coming very soon. He just needed some fun in his life and maybe a few beers.
Cindy was not returning his texts and Michael was not returning his calls. He wanted to meet up with them at the nearest diner to catch up.
"Hey Michael, we should definitely hang out at this diner. I heard it was good and I really want you meet my girl friend. Return my calls asshole."
A strange thought kept occurring in his head that Michael and Cindy were purposely avoiding for whatever reason.
Were they sleeping together?
He chuckled at the thought and brushed it off. They couldn't have been sleeping together; they have no idea who each other are. He parked in front a local cafe and waited for one of them to respond. He turned the radio on recognizing the sound of The Offspring. He nodded as he heard Dexter Holland belt out the familiar lyrics:
"And all the girlies say I'm pretty fly for a white guy."
He received a text message from Cindy and instantly he smiled. He really loved this girl and would do anything for her even though it's obvious she's avoiding him.
Princess : Lukey please go back to your dorm. A lot has been going on with me and yeah. I'll come visit you when everything is okay. And yeah we need to have a serious talk...
Luke slouched in his chair and pouted. What possibly could they talk about? Was he being a bad boyfriend? Was she cheating on him?
Oh God, all these different questions were coming to mind and he started to sweat. He needed some air and something to drink before he passed out. He quickly got out of his car and paced to the cafe door until he bumped to someone.
"Watch it blondie! You almost made me spill my drink!" The guy didn't seem angry but that drink indeed was expensive.
"Sorry mate, I uh-"
Quickly the boy hushed Luke by helping him up. Luke thanked him for the kind action and brushed himself off.
"Are you alright dude? Looks like you've seen a ghost or some supernatural shit." The boy stared at Luke sympathetically. Luke looked down at his feet and put his hands in his pockets. He huffed in frustration and looked at the boy once more.
"Honestly, no. I feel like shit." The boy patted Luke's back friendly. He could see the hurt in the boy's eyes. The boy wanted to do something but he didn't know how since he just met him.
"Would it be weird if I bought you a latte and we might can talk about your problems? Looks like you need serious help." Luke smiled gently and took the guy's offer. They went into the cafe and sat near the window. Window seats were the best seats Luke believed.
"Before you buy me a decaf Cappuccino with extra whip cream, would you be willing to tell me your name just in case you try to kill me?"
The boy laughed. Not a normal laugh but sort of like a little school girl's giggle. Luke nervously chuckled waiting for an answer.
"The name's Ashton and I am not a psycho killer by the way. I'm just very friendly. And I said I was buying you a latte, blondie." Ashton winked at Luke and you can see the discomfort on Luke's face.
Was this guy flirting for him?
Maybe, Maybe not.
Luke looked around seeing college students on their laptops like how every cafe near a college would look like. He noticed a girl with green hair typing furiously and groaning as she misspelled a word. He felt bad for the girl as that how he was back at Berkeley. Maybe she needed to get away just like him.
