The night back at our dorm was rather quiet. We both needed a lot of time to think. I sat on my bed while Wyatt sat on his and stared at the wall in front of him.
"I don't want anymore fights between us, Jae." He finally spoke up.
"Neither do I." I replied and then again we sat together in silence as about ten million thoughts came and left my mind.
Wyatt got up and picked up his coat before throwing mine at me. "Follow me." He said and walked out the door. I hesitated but did get up and follow him out.
"Where are we going?" I caught up to him and asked.
"You'll see." We walked off of campus and I could feel my phone in my back pocket buzzing like crazy and I knew for a fact it was Finn and Jack dying to know how the "date" went. But they can wait. The moonlight lit up the path as we walked and ground beneath us turned from a sidewalk to sand. I looked up and realized we were at the small lake beach in our town. I had no idea what Wyatt's inspiration for bringing me here was. He took me to the shore.
"Here we are." He sat down and i sat beside him.
"Why are we here exactly?" I questioned while tossing a few pieces of sand around between my finger tips.
"You remember that place I told you about online?"
"Yeah." And then it hit me why we were here. "And this is the place you're always disappearing off to?"
He nodded "You really thought I would have a girlfriend?" He laughed.
"I feel stupid not being able to piece any of this together sooner." I admitted. There were so many little clues I never picked up on and I feel kind of dumb about it now.
"I don't. You use to be totally too faced."
"You were worse than me! I'm glad to know you're really a video game lover who drinks more tea than his body weight."
"I really do." He smiled at me and picked up a small shell off the ground and put it in my hand. I held it tightly and with my other hand reached out for his. He happily accepted it and laced our fingers together before resting his head gently against my shoulder.
We watched the water crash up and down along the shore while the highlights from the bright mood gave it an unforgettable glow.
"I love the moon, ya know? It's always there for you."
Wyatt nodded a bit in agreement "Me too. It's constant, unlike human beings."
"Can I ask you something somewhat personal?" I stopped and hated the dull the nice moment but had too many unanswered questions.
"Yeah, what's up?"
"You know those boys? From the cafe? I thought they were your friends. What happened?"
Wyatt looked at me and forced a fake laugh "Friends? Jae, they're very far from friends. If you didn't leave the party an hour after it started you probably would have seen that." His slight smile died down to a straight face.
"W-what happened?"
"I'd rather not talk about it.. maybe later, okay?"
"Okay.." I nodded and allowed the awkward silence to engulf us both. "Hey come with me." I got up and helped him up.
"Where are we going?" He asked
"As a wise man once said.. you'll see." I smirked and took him to the old theater down the block. It was said to close in an hour but that was plenty and nobody is ever there to tell me to leave anyway.
Wyatt followed me in completely clueless."Remember that story you found on my desk?" I sat down in one of the red chairs and looked out at the empty wooden stage. It was so quiet and dull but I saw so much potential in it.
"Yeah, my favorite character was Stan. The problematic one who was oddly written exactly like me." He said sarcastically and sat beside me. "What about it?"
"Okay, picture this!" I hopped out of my seat and ran onto the stage. "I turn it into a screenplay and put it on here! People come to see it, my friends and family see that my dreams of becoming a popular writer are not a waste of time and this old theater has life again!" I hopped around on stage. "You could make my backdrops! I've seen your art and I think it's absolutely stunning." I gushed.
"That was private but thank you." Wyatt's eyes wandered around the room before making their way back to me. "Why here? No offense but it is kind of a dump and there are much better theaters only a few blocks from here." and he was right it was a dump but in a way it was my dump.
"I adore this place. Me and my mom use to visit this part of the state sometimes and come here because we had some family friends in the area. The first time I ever really realized I loved writing was when we went here on a rainy April night, I think it was the 24th, and saw Les Miserables. It changed me! I didn't know something like a play could have a thirteen year old boy in tears. But as time went on more modern and hip things came to town and this place seemed to vanish from everybody's memories."
"That's really lovely. Well how much is it to buy out this crap shoot?" He said somewhat joking but it was something I thought about a lot.
"Well.. like.. only a few thousand... but we're always told as kids not to give up on our dreams so why should this be any different?!" I tried to defend myself and he looked at me as if I was crazy.
"Jaeden, you can't even afford a bowl of soup!" He sighed. "What's your story about?" Wyatt said changing the subject and I realized that he only read the page where I called him the devil in the form of Haiku.
"Us. It's the most interesting thing that's ever happened to me and I want the world to hear it."
"Yeah, I'm in." He smiled a bit. "But for now can we go back to the dorm? I'm exhausted."
"Of course. I should probably call Finn and Jack. They're blowing up my phone and i'm pretty sure they think you murdered me at this point."
A/N ok so I thought this would be a good way to keep the story going even thought the main conflict got solved but still keep the basis of what it's about going. Lmk what you think please! and if anyone has any suggestions also Lmk! Thank you so much for reading this far I love you all and I hope you're enjoying my story. <3
