The Other Potter

As the dark lord made his way to the home of the potter family, Lily sat in the nursery trying to sooth the babies in front of her. ¨Harry be safe. Be strong. Protect your sister. Evelyn, follow your heart and your head. Mummy loves you, daddy loves you.¨ All of a sudden the door burst open, ¨don't do this. Please!!!¨ Lily said, blocking the view of her daughter, giving her time to hide the child beneath James' cloak. ¨it's too late for mercy¨Voldemort said before casting the curse that changed everything. 

Present time

*Evelyn's POV* 

"Dad look!!!" I shouted, standing in the windowsill pointing to our owl, Shadow, who was flying closer and closer to the manor. ¨Evelyn, give him time to get here. Come and eat, we have a busy day.¨My father, Snape, said. I should point out that I know he isn't my birth dad but that doesn't make him any less my dad. When I was old enough to remember dad told me what happened to my parents and that I had a brother but he didn't know where the boy lived. ¨but daaaad, he's got my letter. I'm excited!!!¨ I said, bouncing over to the table. ¨I know you are dear but you must eat before we leave." dad said, while he was reading 'the Daily Prophet'. Just then shadow flew in and dropped the two letters next to my plate. 'Ms. Potter' it read. I opened it and read aloud "Dear ms. Potter, we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into the Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry¨ I squealed, causing dad to look up at me over the top of his paper.  "Finish eating Evelyn, we must meet with Lucius." Dad said, looking back down at the paper. "will Draco be there?" I ask, hopefully. "of course, now eat." He said without looking up. Getting excited, I started eating faster. "Evelyn, slow down child before you get yourself sick" Our cook, Beatrice, said while bringing my dad more ale. "Sorry Bea.." I say, with a mouth full  of toast. "Evelyn, don't talk with your mouth full." Dad said, taking a sip of his drink. I swallow and apologize, picking up my plate and handing it to our maid. "I'm going to get ready now father." I say before running up to my room. 

After I got changed, we left for Diagon Alley. We met up with the Malfoys. As we went from store to store and got all of my school supplies. Father took me to Gringotts to get a little pouch of the money my parents left for me and my brother. "Dad I still need my wand." I said, looking up at him. "I can take her, I've got to get mine as well.", Draco said from behind me. "Alright but be sure to meet us no later than three" Dad said before walking away with Draco's parents. "I can't wait until we are both put in Slytherin." Draco said. "Me too." I responded distractedly. I didn't know if I would be put in Slytherin. My birth parents were Gryffindor but I was raised by a Slytherin. I was pulled from my thoughts as Draco opened the door to the wand shop for me. "Ah, Ms.Potter. I was wondering when you would stop by. You're brother was in here not too long ago." The man at the desk said as he looked behind him for a box, "good morning to you as well Mr. Malfoy" he said while handing me a slim wand. I gave it a flick, causing Draco to fly back onto his bum. Laughing, I handed the wand back, "funny, but not that one." He handed me one that was a little curved, again I gave it a flick and this time some of the wand boxes flew off the shelf. "Not that one either I see.." the man said before going to the back and pulling out a long purple box, "ash wood, Hippogriff feather, ten and a quarter inches, slightly springy. Perhaps this one?" He said while holding the wand out to me. I reached for the wand and felt a weird feeling. As my fingers wrapped around the wand all the lights started to flicker and the wand began to light up. After a little while it all settled down, "It seems you found your wand." the man said taking the wand and placed it back in it's box.  After Draco got his wand, we walked out of the store and started to walk around, "We still have an hour. Where do you want to go lyn?" Draco said, turning to me. "Um... let's go to the menagerie." I said as we walked closer to the shop that had all kinds of animals outside. As we walked up a cute little black kitten jumped off the store sign onto my shoulder. I let out a little squeal and jumped back, bumping into Draco. "Well hi there little thing" I said holding the kitten in front of my face. In response, she licked my nose. A witch walked up to us, "she seems to like you." she said. "Seems so. How much is she?" I said looking away from the kitten. "10 galleons" the lady said. I handed her the money and bought all of the other stuff I would need for my new friend. "It's nearly three, we need to find your father." Draco said helping me carry some of my things.
