John has been at the library for hours and it's really starting to piss Lucas off. "Doesn't this guy have a life to attend to? Why can't he go spend his free time somewhere else?" Lucas thinks to himself, looking up from his phone every so often to see if John makes any sign of leaving, but he hasn't yet. The guy hasn't moved a muscle, he's too focused on that stupid book. One would think he'd go to the comfort of his dorm to read, but no. Not this kid. Lucas ponders for a moment and cringes, remembering someone he used to know that was the exact same way. She loved libraries and would drag him out of the comfort of their shared home just so she could read a book at the public library.Lucas places his earbuds in his ears and blasts his music, drowning out the memory. So engrossed in the song, he didn't hear John get up and make his way towards the desk. Lucas closes his eyes and leans back a little in an attempt to relax, but a loud voice snaps him out of his trance. Angry, Lucas ripped his earbuds out of his ears, not bothering to pause the music that he could still hear even though his earbuds are now in his lap, "Dammit, what the fuck do you want?" John flinches at his harsh tone and anxiously starts playing with his rings, twirling them around in circles.
Lucas takes this moment to study the annoying boy, actually quite intrigued by his strange appearance. John has thick, bleach blonde hair that falls just above his shoulders and a pair of blue eyes that could light up any room, almost making Luke want to squint. His shirt has a white base with blue, red and yellow shapes scattered across it and a regular pair of jeans that are a bit too big. His red colored nails compliment the rings on his fingers quite nicely, as odd as it may seem. Overall, this guy is pretty peculiar and Lucas refuses to admit that he may want to know more about the man standing before him.
"Um... I-is there like, a due date? Ya know, for when I have to turn the book in?" John asks, shifting under his gaze. Luke sighs, "You can turn it in whenever you want as long as you turn it in before the end of the school year." John simply nods and bids him farewell before scurrying out the door. "It's about time the fucker left..." Luke says to himself before placing his earbuds back in his ears and waiting out the rest of his hours.

Lucas pulls into his apartment complex and parks his car in his reserved parking spot. He hops out of his car and locks the doors, pressing the lock button multiple times to make sure it's locked. He lives in an extremely shady area, and he prefers keeping his car and the few belongings he has inside.
Luke makes his way into the lobby and heads to the elevator before the sound of his landlord stops him. "Hey Lucas, you got some mail today." Luke turns around and raises an eyebrow. He hasn't gotten any mail from anyone throughout the entire time he's lived here; plus he isn't acquainted with anyone in America let alone Dallas, so who would want to send him a letter? Luke walks over to the mailboxes and opens his, noticing a small envelope hidden in the very back. He takes it out and stuffs it in his jacket pocket, heading to the elevator without another word to his landlord.
When Luke arrives at his room, he hurries inside and shuts the door, locking it before plopping himself on the couch and taking the letter out of his pocket. He tears it open and grabs the paper inside, opening it up.
Dear Lucas,
Meet me in the alley between Old Navy and the abandoned liquor store on 25th street next Monday after work.
Sincerely,
An old friendEven more confused now, Lucas folds up the letter and stuffs it back in the envelope. "I need a hit..." Lucas mumbles, getting up and grabbing his bowl. He prepares the bong and takes a long hit which puts him in a coughing fit, but once it's over his mind immediately feels at ease. The room suddenly grew brighter and the colors seemed to stand out more than they did before. He then grabs the remote to his tv and turns on Netflix, relaxing into the comfy couch and preparing to binge watch Stranger Things. Luke sits there, the tv show turning into white noise as he feels himself slowly drift off into slumber.
Aye, I plan on making some chapter banners soon, so be prepped for that. Oh, and should I name these chapters or should I keep it as Chapter 1, Chapter 2, and so on?
