Humans are like candles. When we get burnt by power, passion or lust we shine like a star that guides a sailor to shore.

We give off the essential fire to help others make their path or we let others walk all over us by doing just this.

Everyone appreciates beauty and grace,

But sometimes we get so caught up in this tale of lies and things that don't truly matter,

That we burn out for all the wrong reasons.

We melt just like the wax and soon we disappear into nothingness.

The candles are missed when they burn out,

Or that's what those surrounded by the candle say,

But in truth what they miss is the light it provided.

Just as soon as the candle burns out it is replaced with another one,

We forget this candle that melted protecting us and giving us light,

We lose something important, yet none of us realize this.

Because as important as the candle was while it lasted,

There are endless amount of candles that does the same,

There is no single candle that in itself is unique.

It may seem unique but there is always the same candle,

Or maybe even better or brighter one.

Some candles last longer than others,

Almost all get burnt or thrown away before they completely melt.

Some are extinguished by the wind or even the rain but others may last through storms without being affected by it.

Some of us are extinguished in the sense that we fall in love so fast and hard that after a while,

It burns you out or the love that you once felt disappears due to whichever reason and you're left.

No amount of matches can you light you up and no matter how hard anyone tries they can't light you up.

You aren't able to light yourself up because of this.

You slowly lose all the happiness and you get locked in the darkness.

You never reach the full potential of your light.

Others may go through this but they find a reason to believe,

No matter how many times they get extinguished.

They keep coming back to what they once were,

Until they melt away into nothing.

So in the end no matter what you do,

No matter how much you help someone or whichever path you chose or whichever way you decide,

We all die.

All candles melt or disappear slowly and get forgotten.

So it's important to appreciate every bit of light every single candle gives off,

You never know when it's going to end and which stage it is at.

But what are we truly doing,

What is the true purpose of all these candles?

If in the end it's the same thing over and over again?

Will we ever learn to appreciate an unlit candle or one that got extinguished before it melted completely?

Will we ever need it or want it around us without lighting it?
