Chapter Four
SOUL ON FIRE
Kiev and Kill ran through the corridor, the walls were white and the paint smell was still fresh. Kiev wrinkled his nose, his gift was sometimes inconvenient. Kill was limping as he ran beside Kiev it has been years since he ran that fast. The walls were like a labyrinth and they can’t quite remember if they had past that place or not. Kiev thinks they are running in circles.
”Don’t you know this place?” asked Kiev.
"How would I know?" replied Kill without even breathing.
Kiev heard footsteps in a distance. “Someone’s coming. Let’s go!”
Kiev walked towards the sound, Kill followed patiently. Then out of the corner a man wearing a white suite appeared. It was surprised to see Kiev and Kill. Kiev landed a punch on the man’s left jaw. He pulled the man’s shirt and pushed him against the wall.
"Where’s the girl!" he demanded.
"What girl???" replied the man chorused with Kill.
"You know what I’m talking about!" shouted Kiev.
It echoed down the corridors then a loud sound was heard followed by heavy footsteps.
"We better go and find the exit!" pulled Kill.
Kiev didn’t move at all. “Where’s the girl!” he continued asking the man. “Where is she? Or I swear I will skin you alive!” added Kiev.
The man pointed to the left. “Left and straight to the elevator.” said the man weakly.
"You’re coming with us." Kiev dragged the man with them and ran, Kill was cursing.
”Where are we going? And who is this girl?” Kill said it almost three times already but Kiev remained quiet. They went into the elevator, the man was coughing hard.
"What floor?!" demanded Kiev.
"Forty-fourth." wimped the man.
The purring of the elevator gave Kiev a headache, while Kill was lost in thoughts. The elevator went to a stop as the door opened. Kiev shoved the man out first, and then they quietly and slowly walked through the corridor. The walls are made of wood and it has an Asian touch in it. Kill looks amused with it and tried to touch one of the antiques there. Then, Kiev heard a soft whoosh sound.
Kiev opened his eyes and saw a wide open room with ceilings twenty feet above him. He felt his stomach curled, he tried to straighten himself.
"How interesting." a low creepy voice was heard.
Kiev tried to straighten up. “Who are you?” he said weakly.
"I should ask you the same." returned the voice.
Kiev clenched his fists weakly, “Where’s the girl?”
The voice became visible; it was a man, about six feet in height, quite obese, bald and has the most dreadful smile. His very own presence gave Kiev an eerie feeling. His smell was kind of frustrating too, the smell of tobacco mixed with blood and decay.
"The girl is mine." he hissed. Kiev covered his mouth, unwillingly smelled the man’s breathe. The girl is mine, what does that mean? Kiev thought.
"What does that mean?" Kiev said.
The man smiled wickedly.
"And what do you want from me?" added Kiev.
The man walked closer to him and Kiev can see his rigid face clearly. His eyes were swollen like a frog, he has lots of moles and his teeth were yellowish- black.
