A/N: Headcanon that Jihoon is a foul-mouthed tsundere and Soonyoung a cheesy fluffball that loves teasing him

The lights on the control panel flickered as Jihoon's hands flew deftly across his workspace, occasionally messing with some of the settings before undoing the change and going back to square one.
He had his trusty headphones on, a common sight to be seen if one were to catch him working in studio 1-7, which at this point everyone dubbed as Jihoon's own personal studio since no one really used it except the brunette - not that he minded since he was rather territorial and liked that no one dared to intrude on his workspace.
But soon, this studio would no longer be dubbed Jihoon's because he wouldn't have permission to step into the building, couldn't use the facilities even if he entered.
In another 4 days, Jihoon was officially graduating.
It would be a lie to say that he wasn't sad - but not about parting with his friends though.
Last year, the younger ones had organised a tearful farewell party for Seungcheol, Jeonghan and Joshua, thinking that the 3 of them would be off to some prestigious, faraway university, making it hard for all of them to meet. Everyone had bawled and talked about how they would video call every 2 days to stay in touch, only to find out the very next day that the 3 overgrown jokers had entered the university not more than 5 blocks down the road from their current high school.
After that incident, Jihoon was sure that none of his friends would ever go too far away from here. As much as he hated to admit it, none of them could live without each other, so whether he liked it or not, they were all bound to one another for life.
What he was sad about, though, was not being able to work in this studio anymore.
For the past 3 years, this studio bore memories of his greatest achievements, from the perfect score on his final project to tears of pain whenever his files crashed and hours of work went down the drain. This place held a great sentimental value to Jihoon, and a sensitive soul like his found it difficult to part with his favourite workplace.
After hearing the same song for the nth time, Jihoon heaved a sigh and allowed his headphones rest on his neck, rubbing his temple as he mentally replayed the song once more.
He had finished all his coursework and didn't need to compose any more songs for extra credit, but Soonyoung had somehow talked him into composing a final one for graduation - just so him, Jun, Wonwoo and Jihoon could perform in the school for one last time.
It was coming along fine, but that was it. It was fine, but it wasn't good. It wasn't perfect, and the perfectionist in Jihoon was slowly going insane trying to figure out what could give it that missing touch.
It wasn't long before the door to the studio slammed open carelessly, and out of habit, Jihoon rolled his eyes and spun his swivel chair around, just in time as Soonyoung pounced on him, hands on either side of the armrest and his face brightly lit like a puppy greeting his master's return.
"Hi Ji!" Soonyoung greeted as enthusiastically as ever, not budging an inch even as Jihoon nodded his head in acknowledgement. "How's the song?"
At this, Jihoon groaned and shoved Soonyoung off, causing the older to click his tongue.
"Still haven't found that perfect touch?" Soonyoung guessed.
"Nope," Jihoon replied simply before he was back to staring at the recordings he had.
Everything was done; everyone recorded their parts, the backing track was done, Soonyoung had finished the choreography too, but there was just something that nagged at Jihoon, telling him that this piece wasn't complete just yet, and it was starting to get annoying because he had been stuck in the same spot for 3 days.
Soonyoung slid up to Jihoon's side and slung an arm over the latter's shoulder.
If it was anyone else, Jihoon would shrug their arm off immediately and banish them from his recording studio. But something about Soonyoung doing it just made it okay, made it seem alright - like it belonged there.
Maybe it was the timing, maybe it was just Jihoon feeling so stressed that this felt like comfort to him. Whatever it was, Jihoon didn't want to delve too deeply into it. Not now, anyway.
(He knew exactly why but refused to entertain the thought, lest the colouring of his cheeks give him away.)
"It doesn't have to be perfect, Ji," Soonyoung spoke, so softly that Jihoon might've missed it if it weren't deathly quiet thanks to the soundproof walls. "Everyone loves all of your songs. You got our approval, too."
"Yeah, but," Jihoon puffed his cheeks out as he saved his files and shut his laptop down, calling it a day, "it's the last song so I want it to leave an impression behind."
Soonyoung snorted as he grabbed Jihoon's backpack and slung it over his shoulders, his free hand pulling Jihoon up and keeping him under his arm as they walked out of the studio, Jihoon locking up before they continued their way down the deserted hallways.
"And then what? They will play this song at the following graduation ceremonies to commemorate Jihoon the great?"
Jihoon shrugged his shoulders. The two were already out of the school building and were en route to the dance studio where Wonwoo and Jun waited to practice the choreography together.
"I mean, if I do become a famous composer at some point, I wouldn't have to worry about people finding my horrible past creations and think any differently of me after they do."
Soonyoung gave Jihoon a look. "It's not horrible. Nothing you make is horrible."
"But it's not perfect, so it's automatically horrible to me."
Soonyoung shook his head, pushing the cool glass doors open and leading Jihoon to the dance room they had rented for the next few hours, arm still around the shorter with no intentions of loosening its hold.
"Well if it means anything, I think it's perfect."
✽+†+✽――
It was 2.03am on a Tuesday morning and Jihoon still hadn't slept, teeth gnawing on his pencil as he scrunched up the paper yet again and tossed it onto the waste paper bin overflowing with discarded drafts.
Yes, he was stressed out about something again. No, it was not the song - he decided not to touch it until inspiration hit since Soonyoung already choreographed the dance and it would be a shame if he had to change it because of Jihoon.
(It definitely wasn't because Soonyoung said it was perfect. Psh. No way.)
Jihoon the perfectionist was stressing over his very first love letter.
