Mia is pronounced (Mee-a)
(I'm skipping the day between the barrens and school because that doesn't seem important. The boys walked out of school calmly but delighted that the school year had finished.
The younger girl, however, didn't want to keep her excitement in and skipped ahead of them, her school bag moving up and down and she did.
The girl stopped at the bins outside the school and emptied her schoolbooks into it.
Waiting for the boys to get there she looked around and frowned at two different things.
First she saw the giant yellow sign stating a curfew. 7:00pm. She quickly looked away. She knew that was because of the children going missing, what made it worse was that one of the children was her little brother.
She looked away from it and tried to get her mind off of it, but it was hard whenever one of the kid's mothers was standing there.
Betty Ripsom's.
She jumped at someone tapping her shoulder.
"Boo!"
She turned around to see who it was. Eddie.
Eddie was her best friend, they were all best friends in the loser club, but Eddie and Mia were the closest in age, and hung out more.
Eddie's mother wasn't extremely fond of Mia, however liked her slightly more than all of the other, 'disgusting brats' that Eddie hung out with.
"Eddie!" She complained and gave him a slight shove, not really wanting to hurt him.
Not because they were friends, she would have hurt him anyway, if he annoyed her, but because she was currently in his mothers good books, and hurting him would not bring her any higher.
"What are you looking at?" Richie asked the unspoken question of all the rest of the boys.
He followed her gaze and sighed.
"Does she really think that Betty is just gonna walk out that door?
Eddie shrugged,
"It's as if Betty has just been hiding in her homework the last few weeks."
The young girl looked down at the ground.
Stan cut in,
"Do you think they will ever find her?"
"I don't know." Eddie replied.
They stood in silence for a moment, until Bill began to empty his school bag.
They rest of the boys followed and Mia stood still, continuing to stare at Betty Ripsom's mother.
She jumped out of her trance when Stan said,
"This is the best feeling ever!"
Richie sniggered,
"Ha! You should try tickling your pickle for the first time."
A smile spread across Mia's face.
She ran over and put her hands over Eddie's ears, cutting of his hearing.
He smacked her hands away,
"Mia! What the hell?"
She giggled at his reaction,
"You are too innocent young child."
"I'm older than you!"
"By a month!"
"Your point?"
"Guh-guys!" Bill exclaimed.
He was extremely over protective of his little sister. She was nine months younger than him, yet they were in the same class, their mother wanted them to be able to keep each other company. Because of this, Mia is the youngest in her class, and very smart for her age.
"So what are you guys doing during the summer?" Stan cut in.
"Training." Richie stated proudly.
"Huh?" Eddie asked.
"Street fighter!"
"That is what you are going to do this summer?"
"Well yes-,"
"Guys! We have the b-b-barrens."
Mia bit her lip.
"Yeah."
"Sorry Bill." Richie looked at the ground.
"We-Well lets go!"
She hopped on the back of silver with her older brother and the rest of the boys got on their bikes.
She wanted her own bike, however her mother found it unladylike to ride a bicycle, so she wasn't allowed one.
They began to race down the roads and Mia's hair, styled carefully by her mother, began to fly around her face.
When they arrived at the barrens, they threw down their bikes.
There was a nearby cave, so Bill decided that he wanted to look their first.
Bill and Richie walked inside the cave, but Mia, Eddie and Stan stayed outside of it, not wanting to go in it.
"That's poison ivy, that's poison ivy and that poison ivy." Stan began to poke at any leaf that was in reaching distance with a stick.
Eddie's face paled slightly,
"Where's poison ivy?"
Mia looked at him and sighed.
"There is no poison ivy, Stan is just being paranoid."
"Now that I think of it I am getting kind of itchy."
Mia turned around and gave him a look as if to say, 'and what am I meant to do about that?'
Richie smirked,
"Do you use the same bathroom as your mother?"
"Yeah sometimes." Eddie said, confused.
"Then you've got crabs."
"That is so not funny."
Mia sighed and went back to poking at the sewer water with as stick, not stepping foot in it.
"Aren't you guys coming in."
She gave Richie a disgusted look and shook her head while Eddie spoke for them both.
"Nuh-uh. That's grey-water."
"What's grey-water?" Richie asked.
"It's basically," Eddie hesitated, "it's basically piss and shit, so I'm telling you, your splashing around in millions of gallons of Derry pee."
Richie lifted a stick and stuck it into the grey-water, then lifting it to his face,
"What are you doing?" Eddie gagged.
"Doesn't smell like caca to me señor."
"Ew! Richie!" Mia screamed.
"G-g-gu-guys! Look." Bill held up a shoe.
Eddie looked at Mia,
"That's not Georgie's?"
She shook her head,
"No, not Georgie's."
Stan looked confused,
"Who's is it then?"
"B-b-be-Betty Ripsom's."
"Poor Betty." Stan replied.
"Yeah poor Betty! Imagine how she feels, hopping around the sewers with only one shoe!"
Mia rolled her eyes.
"We h-have to go I-I-in-inside!"
"What?! No!" Richie looked annoyed.
Mia's face turned angry.
"Why Richie? Wouldn't you want someone to try and find you if you went missing?"
"Yes- just-,"
There was loud splashing noises and a boy landed in the stream nearby.
"Holy shit! What happened to you!"I really apologise if I left anything out! I didn't mean to! I tried to balance the talking out between all the characters, but I left Stan and bill out of most of it. They will get more attention in the next chapter.
Anyway who do you like better, Stan or Richie?
Mine would be Richie.
