Xayah was surprised with Principal Swain being here at the staircase. It was odd. Really odd. Just what on earth did she do to deserve this-
"If you may, Miss Xayah? Please -ahem- relieve Mister Rakan from the door."
Oh SHIT THE DOOR.
Xayah lets go of the door, letting Rakan open it and finally relieving his fingers. And goddamit Xayah It was such a pain...
"Well Miss Xayah... You know how his performance went at Mr. Jarvan's class." Swain walked closer to the two Vastayans.
"Yeah. I am aware." said Xayah, sternly.
Rakan hissed thru his teeth and pressed his pained hand thoroughly. "Aw come on! Give me a break-"
Xayah raised her hand, "Shush Rakan. Grown Ups are talking here."
"Jerk."
Swain continued, "Miss Xayah. I am here to offer you a job-."
"I already got one. Why would I work for you?"
"It's not for me," Swain clarified, "It's for this poor child here."
Rakan irritatingly said, "I am here, you know?"
"I am not willing to do anything for that irritating prick." Said Xayah.
"Now now... No namecalling of such. All I am asking you is to be his tutor, and I am willing to negotiate an asking price-"
"Not even a million dollars-"
"Not even that to clear out your permanent record?"
Xayah had her eyes opened but wider from that request. Indeed tempting, but Xayah felt it was an easy choice to pick. It was either she would comply, tutor a man-child, and wipe her permanent record of her 'misfit' behavior or not comply and live the rest of the life in peace... but have a struggle on getting into a college suited for her... Deviance.
She asked if there was any catch behind that deal. Swain answered, "He shouldn't cheat, nor do anything that will give him an unfair grade boost. Everything discussed here? It never happened."
"And all of that so I can get a clean record, and nothing else?"
"It is my final offer."
Xayah thought this through. A one time job offer, and a one time deal. A deal that can give Xayah an easier time to get in Ionia College, and a job that involves tutoring an immature actor that the Theatre Arts club moderator Khada Jhin would say, "Reckless as a barbarian, but potential? A blossom even death can compare."
"Can I get some allowance for the job?" Xayah asked.
"No. Rakan will pay for your services."
"What?!" The blond yelled out from the roof, and his voice echoed out of the stairwell. "No one said anything about paying-!"
"Too late." Xayah shook Swain's hand. The deal was sealed immediately, and Rakan felt like his golden hair is melting from the sheer anger of being conned to pay.
Rakan looked at Swain with angry eyes.
"Well? Who's going to teach you? Because I am certain it is not me." said Swain.
Rakan can do nothing but groan at his misfortune.
"Now if you excuse me you two love birds... I got some matters to attend to." Said Swain, coughing along the way downstairs.
...love birds?..
As Swain walked away, the two were left on the roof. Xayah was by the door of the stairwell, and Rakan was a few steps away from her. He breathed in and tilt his head high.
I wonder if I chose right...
"Rakan!"
He looked at the girl. The girl with dark crimson rose hair and dark ruby eyes.
"You want to start today? Or tomorrow?"
He was willing to give today ago.
Besides. I chose her anyway.
