As soon as the father sat down in the sitting room to read his newspaper, he heard someone enter the room. To his surprise, a stranger was standing in the middle of the room, dressed like a sailor who had been out in a storm.
He was wearing a heavy raincoat and big boots. He was very wet: rain ran down his coat and dropped into the carpet.
All the father could say was, "hello!". But the man said nothing. He just stood there and looked around the room as if he was looking for someone. Then he suddenly turned around and walked out of the room.
But what a shock! He walked straight through the solid brick wall!
