I yelled at James to get into the trees, the whole time listening to the pack of wolves.

"Come out, come out, sweetie pie."

"Over here boys, I can smell her."

"Come here, we just want to meet another of our kind."

"Calm down dude, she can't hide forever."

Their rants went on for what seemed like forever. At times they'd talk all at once confusing the hell out of me. I tried to pinpoint which direction they were coming from, but they seemed to be coming from everywhere. They surrounded me. My teeth were bared and a deep growl erupted from my throat. I was ready for them. A dark shadow illuminated from the darkness to my right. Then another from my left, lastly one in front of me. I took a step back, I was blocked by a tree. Just my damn luck.

"Well....well....well, what do we have here?" Said the light brown wolf to my left.

"I'd say a she-wolf, around the ages of 2-3, human years would be 15-17." Said the reddish brown wolf to my right.

"You have a name?" Called the light brown dog.

I didn't dare say a word, why was the middle wolf quiet. He hadn't said a word since they arrived. His size was larger than all three of us, but he was being silent. Why? His stare dove deeply into my eyes. My glare didn't do any good, his pure black fur could practically hide him in the darkest shadows. He looked to be darkness himself. When he finally looked away, I took a breath of relief. His eyes could kill. He looked me over, when he noticed my bandaged leg, he took a step forward.

"What happened to you?" He said. His voice deep, and powerful.

"Nothing." I said too quickly.

He approached me, slowly. His tail straight down, ears pulled back. His head was held low. He examined the bandage. In one brief moment he took a quick sniff of the bandage, then pulled back immediately. His two companions, jumped from his sudden movement. I, myself, was somewhat startled.

"What is that! Where'd you get that?" He glanced around looking far and wide. Then he looked to the trees. The cloth! James! Dammit. I forgot werewolves had an extremely good sense of smell. And vampires, being our complete opposites, had a distinct smell. This cloth was from James cloak. The black wolf, walked around. When he noticed something on the ground, I froze in anticipation. He pawed at the object, I lowered my head. There on the ground, where James had left it, was his cloak. Torn at the bottom, and pure black.

"What do we have here?" Said the black wolf. His voice slow and devious.

I looked away, here's my chance. They were all looking at him, not me. I took a slow step towards the only exit I had, in my moment of escape, the light brown wolf jumped in my path and growled. I turned but again was blocked by the red wolf. A deep laughter rang, corrupting the silence of the night.

"Thought you could run, did you?" Said the black wolf. His voice ringing in the darkness of the mind. "There's three of us, and one of you. Now since you won't tell me your name, how about where'd you get this cloth? It's quite unique. Made from a fine cotton that deflects light, practically allowing you to be unseen in the darkest of corners."

I was trapped. Surrounded by three huge wolves. He wanted answers, answers I must keep secret. I was a rogue, a lone wolf. The chances of me getting out of here, were slim. What was I to do? I couldn't give James up, I cared for him. Yes I know what your thinking, aww true love. But you don't understand. I've seen what werewolves do to vampires as well as their own kind.

---Flashback---

Being six years old I was small for my age. Well I've always been. I had awoken up in a motel bed, sweating heavily. I thought to wake my mother, but with our car ride being longer than expected I chose not to. I walked to the bathroom, my little scooby doo pjs drenched with sweat. My hair stuck to my neck and face. I splashed some water on my face, but no luck. I walked out of the bathroom, maybe I should get my mom. But she seemed so peaceful in her slumber. I went to the door, and opened it slowly. Walking outside, I felt the cool breeze of the Virginia air. Dark clouds roamed the night sky covering the beauty of the stars.

Now I know what you're thinking, you're six years old. Why the hell are you outside! Well I only stayed next to my door. I just needed to cool my temperature. But after a few seconds of air, my temperature rose drastically again. My vision became cloudy as beads of sweat ran down my face. I fell to my knees as the heat became unbearable. The change happened too quickly for me to remember it, but when I had opened my eyes there standing in my place was a small dog. As I got a closer view of it, I noticed it's sleek fur was the color of my hair, dark brown. It's eyes pure black. I backed away in fear. What....what was that?

The dog like creature, stood up slowly and lifted it's head to the sky. The moon had shown through the clouds. One by one, droplet by droplet fell from the sky above. Soon enough the dog creature was completely soaked from the storm. It began it's decent away from the door, one slowly step at a time. I being six, was filled with curiosity, so I followed the dog. Being older I realize I was never following the dog, I was the dog. But since I was six, following a mysterious brown dog in the pouring rain just seemed like the smartest thing to do. I'm an idiot, you don't have to tell me twice.

Woods surrounded the motel we were at. Saying we were on the road to New York it was just some random motel we stopped by. I followed the dog into the woods for quite some time, wasn't long until the dog looked up to the moon and let out a loud howl. It was majestic, and calm. In just a short period of time another howl was heard, a distance away. This one louder, not as majestic. More demanding, and strong. Then rustling and snapping of leaves and twigs was being made. I looked around frantically.

"Who's there?" I said. My voice sounding as scared and fearful as I felt.

Two pairs of yellow eyes shown through the bushes, then shortly after four pairs. A large paw pushed through the bush, then a nose. Soon a giant wolf-like creature had emerged from the woods.

"It's okay sweetheart, we're not here to hurt you." Said a calm voice. It was female, somewhat motherly. Those were the first lies I were to be told as a werewolf. Being complete subjected to wolf personalities, I hadn't learned the trick to shut it down and be human as a wolf. The second wolf creature came out, larger than the first. He looked straight at his partner, ears perked up straight to the sky.

"Honey, this one's a pure. There's no humanity in her eyes." He said approaching the small wolf. He circled her, while I watched from a distance. The female dog just stood, like me watching. When he looked up to the female, they seemed to be talking to each other. But they didn't say anything. Not out loud, I mean. After a short moment the male joined the female and they both looked down at the small dog.

"Come and follow, we'll take you somewhere safe." Said the female.

Her voice seemed trustworthy, to a six year old child like me. To come to think about it, I'd realize soon enough trust isn't something so easily given nor felt. The small wolf followed her, as well as six year old me. It seemed like forever, we walked. To where, I don't know. Even now, I don't know where I was taken. A large gate surrounded some mysterious place. The entrance was guarded by two more wolf like creatures. As they approached, I followed closely behind. The female dog yipped and barked at the guards but, I couldn't understand them.

When the gate doors opened, the female dog turned to me. "Follow me, sweetheart. Just a little bit farther."

So we kept moving. The female lead the way, when we all came up to a cabin she turned around to face all of us. She looked directly at the male wolf to my side, in one split second the small dog was pounced on. She was slammed flat to the ground.

"No!" I yelled. But no one heard me. The young dog like creature yelled in pain, as she struggled to get up. A large paw was placed upon her flank, holding her in place.

"Please! Let her go! Please!" I yelled louder and louder. Fear shook through me, tears welled up in my eyes. The female wolf put more pressure upon the young wolf's chest, making it harder to breath. Pain swelled upon my chest, my human chest. Why was I feeling pain? Tears fell, not just from my eyes but the young wolf as well. Pain surged through our bodies, it became so overwhelming I couldn't stand it anymore. Then everything went black.
