SEVEN // "i love you, baby."

Ding!
The heart shaped timer dinged on the island. Sliding off the stool I was sitting on, I pulled on the oven mitt and pulling the oven door open, I waved a towel in the air as the hot air escaped from the confined space. Pulling out the metal pan, I poked a toothpick inside the biscuit to make sure it's well cooked.
I smiled as I pulled back out a clean toothpick. Standing back up, I turned off the oven and bending down, with both hands I pulled out the pan and set it on the stove top to cool down.
"Mhm, something smells really delicious," Jason suddenly whispered in my ear as he wrapped his arms around me from behind.
It's been few days since the whole me going out on the patio and almost freezing to death and then cuddling with Jason and he admitted that he would care if I die incident. And things seemed to go back to normal.
In this timeframe he hasn't left the house once, the only time he did leave was to get some extra food and drinks. And even then he wasn't gone longer than half an hour.
That nagging feeling that he's probably just doing this and acting like this is out of sympathy, and that once he sees that I'm doing better he will be gone like wind, hasn't left me. It's still there. But I really haven't dwelled on it the last few days. All I cared about now was the time I did get to spend with Jason.
It really seems like it's been ages since we've done things like this. It's been so long since we've last cuddled and watched movies. Or me baking something delicious because Jason has an enormous sweet tooth. Right now I just wanted to take in the bliss because I don't know how long all this will last.
Turning around in his arms, I played with his chains, "I made your favorite."
"Lemon biscuit?" His eyes practically lit up as a Christmas tree. Nodding my head, I let out a muffled laugh as Jason harshly pressed his lips against mine. It didn't take me long to kiss back as I moved my arms from his chest up to his neck, wrapping them around it.
Once we pulled away, Jason stared deeply in my eyes and for a moment I feel like time had stopped and it's only him and I. Letting out a breath of content, I pulled myself away from him as I turned back to assist the biscuit that was now ready to be eaten. Cutting it up, I placed a rather large slice on Jason's plate and a smaller one on mine.
Even if things felt normal and he was here, next to me; even if it's momentarily, I haven't regained back my appetite. The moment Jason started coming and leaving without any trace, I started eating less and less. I'm still ashamed to say that I was — still am — so attached to him. I knew that I wasn't anorexic or anything like that, I still ate but it was in really small servings.
"Here," I meekly smiled as I handed Jason his plate. Taking it, he right away dug in as I went to wash the bowls that I had used to make my favorite biscuit.
"Are you not going to eat?" Jason asked from behind me, placing now his empty plate next to me. Mumbling a quiet, "later", I picked up his plate, washing it. Turning me around, he grabbed a hold of my wet hands, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," I didn't dare to look him eyes, so I just stared at his hands that were holding mine.
"Don't lie to me, Nic."
"Nothing is wrong," I looked up at him. "I'm just not hungry right now." I lied. Adding a smile, I leaned up and placed a kiss on his cheek.
Pulling my hands out from his, I ducked down and escaped Jason's trap. Leaving the kitchen, I practically ran upstairs. Heading inside the guest room that was never occupied, I locked the door from the inside. Walking over to the bed, I crawled under the blanket that I had neatly placed at the foot of it. Snuggling inside the warm material, I stared out of the window.
Darkness.
The same thing I was feeling inside, so I guess me and Mother Nature had something in common.
Turns out that it had started raining. As harsh rain drops hit against the glass, heavy footsteps echoed through the whole house as Jason walked upstairs. Stopping right outside of the bedroom door, his shadow could be seen from under the door. "I love you, baby."
Yeah, I love you too. I thought to myself as I directed my gaze back to the window. I just wish you would actually mean those words.
