1987. The black letter was written on a white calendar, quietly governing its place next to the school billboard. On the top of the billboard was a metal plate nailed to the wall, with the white text that read, "Mineberry High School". This small white almanac started to swing very slightly from left to right while the school bell rang, but then it suddenly flipped out the dates as the students went out from their small classrooms like a swarm of bees, streaming across the empty and large hallway. A deep hum of a thousand voices came in and out of the corridor, with creaking footsteps heading towards their assembly place. The small glittering of the locker doors and the loud banging sounds came by, as the students held up their colorful papers and notebooks, walking through the corridor, looking around to locate their classrooms for their next lesson.

          Robert Briggs was there.

Wearing a simple grey cardigan jacket with a white T-shirt, he walked across the hallway. He looked around. Only a cold breeze blew by him. He shivered a little. He continued on his lonely walk as he heard his footsteps cracking step by step. But then, the sudden bright sunlight beamed through the dark corridor. He turned around. He saw the big square canvas filled with an azure sky and various beautiful colors on the street nearby. He then turned his black eyes to see a beautiful schoolgirl standing in front of it. She was wearing a purple jacket with white trousers, her red hair shining brightly from the sunlight. Her friend with a yellow hair was talking right next to her. As Robert gazed at her, the red-haired girl turned instantly and gave Robert a look. She smiled. The sunshine beamed like a spotlight behind her. Robert smiled back. But as soon as he turned back around to continue on his small walk, he bumped into someone. Robert suddenly heard the sound of dripping water.

          "What the-"

Robert looked up to see who it was. A male student with two other students was standing in front of him. In the male student's red school jacket was a big stain, soaked. His face instantly turned red, walking towards Robert in an intimidating manner.

"You think you're pretty funny, don't you, Briggs?" He snapped, looking straight into his eyes.

"Kaleb, I'm so sorry," Robert said, "I didn't mean to spill your drink. It was a complete accident. I'm sorry!"

The two students behind Kaleb's back stared coldly at Robert. Kaleb once glared at Robert, then suddenly pushed him towards the icy stone wall and made Robert's back instantly tingle with chillness.

"You want to wipe that stupid smile off your face, or I'm gonna have to do it for you?" Kaleb sneered.

         "Kaleb!"

Kaleb turned around as he heard someone's voice beside him. Robert turned his head to look who had spoken. It was the same person he saw earlier, the schoolgirl with red hair. Kaleb's face instantly turned bright.

"Oh, Anna!" He said, smiling. "Hey. How are you?"

Anna didn't answer for a moment. She wasn't smiling either. She stared hard at him.

"What are you doing?" She asked firmly.

"Well, this jerk here- pushed me and- threw his drink on me," Kaleb said in a bit shaky voice, glaring towards Robert.

"Oh, really?" Anna said, crossing her arms, "He pushed you? I'm not stupid, Kaleb. I know it was an accident."

"Well, we should watch where he's going instead of staring at you the whole time," Kaleb said abruptly. Then he quickly went off his way, leaving Robert behind.
