Holding Hands

Look at these hands,
these weathered, scarred hands
that belong to a man
whose soul is broken, marred.
A man who lived in the dark
with a lonely, sad heart
but that all changed when you came along.
You took these flawed hands,
you grasped them in yours,
and let me hold you close to my heart.
And, my love,
of all the things these sad hands have held,
the best, by far, are yours.
