————————————CEDRIC'S POV (before the mess with Evan)
"I don't know man, I really messed stuff up. She seemed super upset and I don't know how to fix it, she wasn't even at breakfast today, and it's Halloween," Cedric told Dallas while the two of them walked to the Hufflepuff common room after class. Cedric was hung up on the debacle that was last night. "I don't know why I freaked out, I just didn't want to pressure her or rush things."
"It sounds to me like you've got it bad. Why don't you tell her how you're feeling? That would go a lot further than some lame apology, and would definitely help her understand what is going on. What do you have to lose, you clearly dig the girl, and I'd say it's likely she feels the same way," Dallas replied.
"Dallas, have you seen her? She's like the most wonderful person I've ever met, exactly the kind of person I imagine myself with, ya know? It is almost too good to be true. You've seen how guys look at her! And you see how everyone in the school adores her! How am I supposed to woo such an unattainable and perfect girl? She hardly een thinks of me as a friend, let alone anything more. She only puts up with me because she is too nice to say otherwise, and any chance I had of snagging her is gone because I was too scared last night," Cedric said, completely defeated.
Getting slightly aspirated at his friend's incessant worrying, Dallas simply said "if you want to fix things, the first step is finding her and talking to her, but right now you need to get some paper and go put your name in that goblet." They entered the common room to find Cameron already waiting for them.
"Guys, lets go! Ced, you need to hurry up and get to that goblet, we've only got an hour till supper!" Cameron said excitedly while handing Cedric a piece of paper containing his own name and Hogwarts. Wanting to forget, his mess with Evan for the time being, he laughed and paraded out of the common room straight for the Great Hall. Walking along with his friends, he was surprised to see a black dog sprinting past the Great Hall, but was too busy being egged on by his entourage to pay too much mind to it's unusual presence.
His two friends, along with several other Hufflepuffs who followed, pushed him in through the double doors of the Great Hall and towards the glowing cup. Laughing lightheartedly, he passed the blue Age Line and tossed the sheet of paper into the goblet, and felt a weight lift off his shoulders. He knew he had done the right thing in entering into the tournament, and was eager to find out if he was chosen or not. Turning to go rejoin his friends, he saw Katherine sitting down on one of the benches talking with a student from Durmstrang and had an idea. He shooed his friends along and went to go talk to the Ravenclaw.
"Katherine, I'm sorry to intrude, but do you by any chance know where Evan is? I really need to talk to her," Cedric interrupted her conversation to ask. Looking up, Katherine looked more pleasant than he had ever seen her and was glad he caught her in such a good mood.
