CEDRIC's POV
Exhaustion rung through his bones. He had stayed up all night thinking about what he was about to do. Rebecca and Dallas stayed up with him until the early hours of the morning convincing him what he was about to do was a good idea. The rest of the night he lay awake in bed, too nervous to sleep until about an hour ago when he passed out. Honestly, the plan wasn't overly crazy like fireworks or anything, as Rebecca said Evan would be way opposed to that, but it was still way outside Cedric's comfort zone.
Hurrying to get ready before he could talk himself out of it, he rushed to get ready, his two roommates must've already left for breakfast. As he walked down the hall, he couldn't stop thinking about how this could turn out terrible and be completely humiliating.
How did I let them convince me this would actually be a good idea?
But knowing that they were already in the Great Room waiting for him reminding him that there was no going back. Swallowing his pride, he made it all the way to the doors while running through the plan in his head one more time. He snuck through the doors and scanned the people already at breakfast, looking for Dallas and Rebecca.
Spotting two dark heads with their head together in deep conversation, Cedric carefully made his way over there, not wanting to draw any attention to him yet. Joining them, Cedric ducked even further down than the two of them, nervousness wrecking him.Funny how he is just as nervous now as he was when he faced the dragon.
"Cedric everything is set up, I have the charm and Becca has the music ready. Evan is right over there" Dallas gestured to a table on the opposite side of the room from them, where Cedric could just make out a tangle of blonde curls "so we're ready whenever you are!"
Taking a shaking breathe, Cedric gave the pair a single nod before standing up and gathering himself. "Ready as I'll ever be."
Taking that as her cue, Rebecca pressed a certain button on a control she was holding, (idk if wizards have stereos but they have to have something similar right?) and The song You Got it by Roy Orbison starting playing and Cedric jumped onto the table with the biggest smile on his face. Now or never.
Everyone in the hall was looking around trying to figure out where the music was coming from, and slowly began to notice the weirdo dancing around and singing to the song. Cedric was really getting into the music and honestly forgot there were tons of people in the room, looking only at Evan, who had finally turned around to see him serenading her. Cedric's confidence grew even more when he saw the dimpled smile he loved so much and he began singing even louder as he slowly made his way over to her table, still dancing and being obnoxious.
"Anything at all you got. BABBBBBBBYYYYYYY ! You got it." He sang off pitch, directly in front of Evan, grabbing her hand and pulling her up to him as the music stopped. Applause erupted from everyone in the room. Cedric looked down and saw Evan blushing profusely, trying to hide her giant smile. He wanted to kiss her more than anything but didn't want to push his luck.
She looked up at him and Cedric felt they would be alright, her eyes told him she forgave him. Feeling encouraged, Cedric pulled her up into a tight hug and felt her lean into it also. Cedric couldn't believe after everything the two of them had been through, as well as all the challenges that faced them in the future, that they would be in the middle of the Great Hall embracing each other. Evan looked up at him with her beautiful blue eyes sparkling in happiness, with a flush that still hadn't left her reddened cheeks. She wore a soft smile on her face, her lips rosy as always.
Not caring if anyone was watching them, Cedric grabbed her chin and pressed his lips to hers desperately, too caught up to care about anything or anyone else. He felt her body initially stiffen in shock, but quickly grew lax as she too leaned into the kiss. Her mouth was so warm, and she tasted and smelled of fresh sweets. The loud noises of everyone faded away, hearing only the pounding of his heart. He couldn't even think straight, he was too overwhelmed by the very essence of the incredible girl he held in his arms.
However as quickly as she was in his reach, she was gone, flooding Cedric with a coldness that he had never noticed until now. Looking to Evan for an explanation for her abrupt ending of their moment when he saw she was looking sheepishly behind his shoulder. Twisting around, Cedric's stomach dropped when he realized that Professor Snape and Dumbledore were staring at the two of them; Snape wearing an expression of barely concealed disgust, Dumbledore's expression unreadable.
Oh no.
