“Nessa, don't forget to drop off Brinn's order in her house before you go to school.” My dad says as he took out the freshly baked cheese bread out of the oven.

“Yes dad, I know. You've said that a million times.” He did keep on reminding me about that since yesterday.

I must say he's a really good baker. I remember how he and my mom would teach me how to bake when I was a kid and once told me that “What you made is nothing without love.”

He's very hardworking and that's what I really admire about my dad. I was only 10 years old when my mom left us. My dad didn't handle it well at first, he was devastated. He would get drunk, go home late and never work. I witnessed how his world crushed when she left. I was an only child that's why I felt lonely. But because of that loneliness, I became independent.

Sometimes my aunt would watch over me making sure I'm alright. But after those painful years he finally got everything together and started moving forward. He felt sorry for me but after all he's still my father, I love him, and he's all I got right now.

“Just making sure honey, you take care of yourself.” He said as he kissed my forehead. I smiled underneath that warm kiss.

I was ready to head out when I took a last glance in front of the mirror. I was wearing my denim skirt, white tank top with a red flannel and a pair of old converse.

I took a deep breath as I grab my bag and walked towards my Dad to kiss him goodbye.

I made my way to Mrs. Brinn's house. It was only a 5 minutes walk but I didn't want to be late for the first day of school that's why I decided to ride my old trusty bike. I would normally walk to school in some ordinary days but today, I feel like it.

Their house is surely big and luxurious. Their neighborhood almost look all the same. They all have these huge houses in here while us are plain and simple, very much different.

As I stand by in front of the door step, I rang the bell but there were no response. I can't be late to school that's why I tried to knock on the door.

“Mrs. Brinn? It's Vanessa. Here's your-” I was cut off by the door that suddenly swung opened.

I was surprised because it's not her who's in front of me, it's her son. Her gorgeous son, Dale Stone. Me and my best friend Priscilla have a big crush on him since 8th grade. The thing is she doesn't know I like him too. Because I've been hiding and denying it the whole time to make sure I won't hurt Priscilla. She has developed her feelings for him through the years and I've seen how it gets deeper. I didn't want to ruin our friendship just because of a guy.

So I decided to just admire him from afar.

His body leaned towards the door jamb, waiting for me to speak up. His hair was messy, wearing dark jeans and a black button up shirt that has his sleeves rolled up showing his toned arms. His eyes pierced through me as he studies my reaction. He crossed his arms and I can't help but to notice it. He is undeniably attractive and hot. He looks tired. I looked through his bloodshot eyes down to his smooth looking lips. Then I realized my mouth was still open.

Great

I tried to speak up but my thoughts were all scattered. It's like my heart went beating so fast and I didn't know what to say.

“Uhm... I'm... I was just... Uhh... “

What the hell Nessa say something you stupid.

I cleared my throat and said “Sorry, I'm looking for Mrs. Brinn. Her order is here. I just want to drop it off.” He stood there still studying me.
