Chapter 6: A & E

After her sudden fall , genie was sat into a wheelchair and driven to the Accident & Emergency by the carnival medics. At the accident and emergency , Genie was sent straight away to the X-ray room with the radiographer. The radiographer - who went by the name of Dr. Rosefield - checked where Genie had hurt her ankle. She firstly rotated the injured athletes foot towards her ankle - ow ... - a bit of pain. Then she rotated the foot from side to side. Just the pain when someone pricks there finger accidentally on a pin. Finally , she pointed the foot- "Ouch!" Genie yelled in unbearable pain. The doctor asked were it hurt and during recovering from the pain genie slowly pointed at the bone of her ankle. "Hmm" Dr. Rosefield murmured. "Could you maybe slide yourself back and just rest your leg under that arch. We are just going to take a few photos if you can keep your ankle as still as possible ok ..." she walked over to the controller for the machine. She sat down and repeated her instructions "just relax and don't move whatsoever, and remember tensing your leg makes it harder to stay still". Genie lied herself down on the bed of the machine and rested her body as well as closing her eyes , as if she was going to fall asleep. Doctor Rosefield began to move the lever around , clicking the button  every time she halted at a different spot. "Right you can relax now I'll just check  and if it is broken we will run you to a ward ASAP" she said as she came off the controller and went over to her laptop to examine the injury. Doctor Rosefield  apologised " I'm afraid you have broken your ankle. You may have to stay off school the next two days while we get you crutches and maybe even a moon boot . Now jump in this wheelchair for me and we'll take you to the child/teen injury ward." Genie slowly stood up on her one decent leg and dropped herself into the wheelchair , then began to sob as she thought about the importance of her place on the cheer team while they walked to the ward.
