The Carver County Sheriff's office is now in the final stages of its investigation into the death of music superstar Prince, according to a law enforcement source.
The investigative file will be turned over to the Carver County Attorney for review in the coming weeks, the source said.
Authorities have been attempting to determine the source of the fentanyl on which Prince overdosed in April of 2016, causing his death.
Federal drug agents have also been working with Carver County officials on the case.
Prince missed an early-morning holistic medicine appointment on April 21, 2016, and the Carver County Sheriff's Office was called to his home at Paisley Park later that morning.
Prince, 57, was found unresponsive in an elevator. Deputies attempted CPR, but were unable to revive him.
The last time Prince was seen alive was around 8 p.m. the previous evening after he had visited a Twin Cities hospital, according to the sheriff's office.
