The next morning a girl dressed in a maids outfit woke me up. I'm fine when I wake up on my own, but I hate being woken up by someone else. It makes me a bit cranky. I threw open my door staring at this maid. She seemed to be shaking.
"What!?" I growled.
"S-s-s-sorry. I-I-I j-just need to uh.." she hung her head down and started to walk away. I felt guilty for being so grouchy.
"Wait!" I grabbed her arm. "I'm sorry. I'm just not used to people waking me up."
She nodded and smiled a little. "Sorry, Landon is waiting for you in the dining hall."
"Dining hall?"
She nodded. "I can show you if you like."
"Yea. I'd like that. Let me change first. Come in and sit down." I let her pass into my room, she pulled out the desk chair and sat down properly. I am definitely not used to this.
"So how old are you?" I asked her.
"19. My names Lori."
"That's cool. Why are you a maid...here?"
"I'm a human if that's what you're wondering. I needed a job to pay for school. And Landon's family was looking for maids. They're pretty rich if you can't tell."
"Obviously. So you're in school. What do you study?"
"I want to be a nurse. What about you? What's your story?"
"I'm Sophie. Up until recently, I was a normal girl like you. Landon and Micah pointed out I'm not. So now I'm here."
"Oooh, Micah!? I've had a huge crush on him for like ever!"
"Seriously? Maybe I can set you guys up."
"Sure. So are you an angel or a demon?"
"Both."
Her eyes widened and her mouth fell open.
"Satans daughter apparently." I shrugged. "Don't worry, I won't hurt you. You're probably the only sane person here."
When I got dressed Lori twirled her arm through mine and walked me to the dining hall. It was massive, bigger than a cafeteria in a school. There was a long table in the middle with at least twenty seats. The two end chairs looked almost like thrones. Lined up around the table were men dressed in butler suits. Lori pulled out my chair for me to sit. I was directly in front of Landon.
"What's with all the other chairs?" I asked motioning toward the emptiness.
"My family. My mother, father, and little sister."
"Are they here?"
"No. They're on a trip. They'll be back in a few days." He shrugged.
"Why aren't you with them?"
He glanced up at me and winked. "I'd rather be here." He snapped his fingers and the butlers brought food to us. Everything was so amazingly cooked and detailed. Eggs, sausage, ham, biscuits, even yogurt. There are a lot of options. I grabbed the eggs and some ham. I scooped up some yogurt.
"I want to show you something later."
"Ok. Sounds good." I nodded.
"Oh, and you look beautiful." Maybe he does like me.
He hasn't said anything about the kiss, but maybe he's saving it for later. I hope he's not mad about it. But I mean I do hope he likes me too. Every time I look down to take a bite of my food, I glance up toward Landon and notice him watching me.

After breakfast, I decided to catch up with Lori.
"So how do you like it here?" She asked.
We were in another huge room. She was doing her business, cleaning, and whatnot.
"It's huge! Do you need help?" I asked pointing to a pile of clothes.
"Oh, sure. I wouldn't mind it, but if Landon walks in....stop. I don't want to sound rude, but if you're helping, I don't get paid."
"I'll kick him in the butt if that happens."
We both started laughing. I helped her clean the whole entire room, and Landon didn't even walk in. By the looks of the room, I'm guessing it's his little sisters. There was a huge dollhouse and a lot of dolls. Her bed is pink along with everything else in here. This house is all pretty amazing. But I can't get Stacey out of my head. I haven't talked to her lately and I'm starting to miss her. She's been the only person who was like family to me. But I need her safe. So it's best to keep her at a distance for now. When we walked out of the door and closed it, Landon appeared walking towards us.
"Ladies." He tilted his head.
"Sir." Lori bowed gracefully and elbowed me.
"What? Am I supposed to bow?" I chuckled.
"No, I need you to come with me. Lori, finish your work and come find me."
She nodded and went into another room.
"Where are we going?"
"Remember? I needed to show you something."
He grabbed my hand and walked me completely out of the house. The back yard was amazingly huge. The grass was green and there were flowers blooming. There was a swing set, a sandbox, and a lot of other things for a child.
Where he took me was the tree line entering the woods.
"Why are we here?" I asked.
"I'm taking you to a secret place." He grabbed my hand leading me into the deep dark woods. I'm not sure I like this. We came out five minutes later to a path leading a mile back. In the distance, I could see more tree and sticking up, a roof. Another house!? These people must be made of money to have two houses!
We made to the clearing. The front yard to the house. It's not a house but a small cabin. It was made fully of wood. It was amazing. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
"Is this yours?" I said pointing to the cabin.
Landon nodded and dug in a flowerpot to the right of the door. He pulled out a key and unlocked the door. Inside felt homie and was as if it was built in old times. It really was beautiful. There was a fireplace made of brick and a beige sofa with a nice black rug under the rustic coffee table. The counters were made of marble. No dust covered the walls or any of the books. Someone must take really good care of it.
"What do you think?" Landon asked plopping down on the sofa.
"I like it."
"This is my place. I stay over there" he said pointing toward the mansion. "When my parents are away. This is my full-time abode. Yours now I guess."
"It's pretty amazing."
He nodded in agreement. "I'll bring your stuff over tomorrow. For now, I have to watch the mansion and the workers." He got up and placed the key from the flower pot in my pocket. "It's yours." He kissed my cheek.
"Why'd you do that?" I asked.
"You kissed me first." He winked at me.
"By accident."
He frowned as if what I said hurt his feelings.
"I doubt it was an accident. But whatever you have to tell yourself." He turned around headed for the door.
"Ok! I meant to...sorta." I looked down at my feet completely embarrassed. My face must be glowing red. He turned back around to face me. He walked forward and placed his hands on my cheeks smirking. Then he pulled me in and mashed his mouth to mine.
Should I be feeling guilty, about Micah? I mean...one of these guys gets to marry me and so far I've been only giving Landon a chance. But Lori, my new friend has a huge crush on Micah. My life just became even more complicated.
