"Beka?"

The sound of a voice and the recognition of his name came to him slowly, drifting into the air like a wisp of smoke and fading as quickly. He was somewhere, he couldn't remember where or exactly why he came to be wherever he was. For a long moment it simply did not matter. It was odd, he swore he could feel the slow, determined heartbeat of the one who owned that voice. The beat of his own heart seemed too slow as well, the flow of blood in his veins lazy and his body not warm enough. Yet none of this bothered him. It was the beat of that other heart, the blood coursing through veins not his own that called to him far more than that voice.

Information began to be processed in small increments at first in his mind, as he felt his senses begin to respond.

He remembered things, bits of things really, stuff that happened not too long ago but he couldn't be certain. Did a day pass, a week or more?

"Are you sure about this?"

Yuri had asked him that question, he saw a clear image of green eyes showing rare concern. He felt almost honored to be the only one chosen to experience the true nature of the ageless salty were-cat who'd captured him so completely.

Can a vampire be a were-cat as well? If possible Yuri would definitely be one.

"There's no going back after this you know." that familiar voice told him that as well. Returning to its careful distance as if protecting its owner against what the reply might be.

Refusal would only make the adorable vampire were-tiger retreat behind his veil of anger and detachment. After so long together you'd think the man he loved would be more confident. Wasn't this his decision anyway? He had spent a long time preparing after all. Yuri made it perfectly clear that he wanted this to be done correctly, with no repeating of his sire's or his sire's mate's mistakes.

No going back.

From the start there had been no going back. He accepted his fate, willingly and gratefully.

Yuri brought him to this room somewhere in the depths of Madness, a room without windows, with a bed, a small refrigerator and a chair between them. Here they would not be disturbed under whatever threats Yuri imposed on what he considered his overly concerned sire and clingy mate.

"Take it slow, okay?" Yuri again, this time in the now. "I'm right here. Just remember what I told you and it won't be so weird."

Yuri had been quite thorough in his explanations about the transformation, about handling the rush of sensations and the sudden need for blood. This dark, quiet room would help the transition. Less sensation, less confusion- or so Yuri told him. So far it seemed true. His senses were solely focused on Yuri at this moment, he'd never been so very aware of him. How he sounded, smelled and the concern flowing from him. He'd never tell Yuri about that. Such things were weaknesses Yuri only allowed in these moments when they alone existed. He felt truly privileged.

He loved Yuri, every last complicated, messed up, scattered and absolutely beautiful part of him. He wanted this. He'd waited so long for their forever to start.

Whatever happened they would face it together.

And they would do it better than that useless Viktor Nikiforov and clueless Yuri Katsuki who was certainly wasting his talents.

Or so Yuri said on many occasions.

He felt them too, further away, but there. Watching over this despite Yuri's warnings against it.

There were others too, as he reached further out they were there. But he pulled back against the onslaught. It was too much. He'd been warned against trying too much too soon.

He was smiling when he opened his eyes at last, meeting those sea green eyes that were warm and curious and open only for him. What else would he want to see first here at the beginning of his new life? Something so clear and bright in this dark place.

"Why are you smiling?" now Yuri was suspicious, the gaze narrowing but no less adorable. "I'm not sure you should be smiling right now?"

"For someone whose got at least a century on me you have a lot to learn."

In response Yuri gave him the usual pfft of derision before turning away intent on grabbing something out of the refrigerator.

He felt it necessary to pull Yuri back and down into an all consuming kiss, wondering at how these new sensations sparked their way through him igniting further his awareness of this being in his arms. He couldn't wait to explore this newness even more.

Yuri, flustered, pulled away. "Aren't you hungry? You really should be hungry not horny."

Despite feeling more than a little exhausted, very much confused at countless new sensations as his body adapted, he couldn't help but laugh only furthering Yuri's irritation. Of course he'd be irritated, things had not gone according to his plans. He'd been so careful to make it perfect.

He looked forward to whatever came their way in this uncertain forever they shared.

If nothing else it would be their way.

"You really do have a lot to learn, Yuri."

He pulled Yuri back once more, meeting far less resistance.

Forever?

Who really knew.

At least they would be together.
