"It'll be my pleasure to help you carry the things, sir, if you wish." I chimed back in, as soon as he stopped laughing and caught his breath. "Are they in your home, or out back?"
He opened one of he eyes as he huffed, and wheezed through his breaths. "Uh-uh. You couldn't carry a single box of that size up the stairs by yourself, girlie. I'll bring it up for you, and then we'll carry ittogether to your wagon." He pointed to my wagon, which was parked a few meters behind me. "Huh?" I blinked. How big could they be?
Two minutes later, he came back to the door with his head hid behind two, giant, over-sized wooden boxes, the exceedingly tall tower of man and box looming high over my head. I stared dumbstruck at the entirety of it all, thinking about how one more box would have been too big to ever fit through the door.
"Um..." Before my concerns could slip out my mouth, he, the man, slammed down half the weight of it onto my not-so-ready arms. "And heeeeere you go!!"
All that mass abruptly smashed into my limbs, and then I was straining, beads of sweat collecting on my skin. The two of us grunted and started to waddle our way to my wagon, when my foot decided to catch one of my sneaker's lace by the tail, like a cat pouncing onto a mouse.
"Huuuuhgh!!" I felt the center of my weight begin to topple, and in quick reaction, my feet shuffled back. Luckily, at the brink of the short flight of stone steps, my feet slowly took rest again, and relaxed back into position.
"Phew..." I let out a sigh of relief.
"You okay there girlie?" The man called out to me, poking his head out from behind the colossal boxes. I hurried to answer, and called back to him:
"Perfect! Everything's going all right!" Though my arms felt like they were going to fall off.
