《Skye》

"Kyle! What did I tell you about staying out of my room!"

I yelled down the hall. Older brothers were such a pain. That jerk hid my sneakers and I needed them so I could go skateboarding. I finally found them on my trophy shelf. I had to get a chair and step on my tippy toes to reach it. I was a simple girl and never wore anything fancy. My wardrobe consisted of leggings, jeans, joggers sweats, and tee shirts. I got them down, put on my favorite shorts and tee shirt, and headed out to the park.

Tomorrow was the first day of junior year and I'm anything but excited. I don't exactly have the best social life at Jadewell high school. I had one friend. Hayley Anderson, gorgeous, funny, and confident. How did I end up with such my total opposite as a best friend? I have no idea.

The think about Jadewell is that it's probably the hardest school to fit in to. There's so many labeled groups. I don't really fit in any of them. You have the jocks, the cheerleaders, the mathletes and the geeks, the punks, and the bad boys. What does one do when one doesn't fit in anywhere? They find one good friend and stick with them. No matter what.

God knows I need Hayley in my life as my best friend and sister. There are some things I can't talk about with my brother or dad. I used to talk to mom about all this stuff but ever since the accident.... I don't have anyone to turn to for girl stuff.

When I finally get to the park, I waste no time. I'm skateboarding in seconds. I did all the moves I could think of before I tried my newest one. It was tricky and I've only pulled it off a couple of times. I mean back which makes the front of my board go into the air, jump up and twirl it, then land going the opposite direction I did before. I had almost all of it finished before my foot slipped and I fell. Hard.
"Hey are you alright?"
I knew that voice anywhere.
It was Jake Hale
