New Year's Eve

Sorry this is so late! Life has been a bit crazy and I had writer's block (I still did when I wrote this part) I apologize in advance if this is horrible, but I tried my best.

This was truly one mortal holiday Death just couldn't wrap his mind around. Joe had let both boys to go over to Adrian's house for New Year's Eve and stay the night there. Death was very against leaving Joe by himself on a holiday, but Joe insisted it was no big deal. Both boys had been over at Adrian's house for most of the day. Ash had sat on the couch with his phone and hasn't moved for hours. Death on the other hand was bored. This wasn't a holiday that people came over and stayed all day. The celebration was at night — midnight to be exact— and Death had no clue what to do until then.

"Better get a quick nap in before tonight Cain," Adrian's dad advised him. Death looked at him oddly.

"Why would I take a nap sir?" Death asked in a polite tone. He was trying to be on his best behavior.

"The first one to fall asleep tonight after the ball drops is going to get a slight makeover," he told him, "But don't let the other three know that I told you."

"What do you mean by a makeover?" Death asked curiously.

"It depends on who falls asleep first. I heard Adrian saying everything from hair dye to nail polish,"

Death's eyes grew wide at those words. He had seen Arabella with painted nails before, and had been told by Dante and Adrian that it was embarrassing and weird for a guy to paint their nails.

"I think I'll be fine. I'm not tired or anything," Death told Adrian's dad.

"Alright, but don't say I didn't warn you," he stated before he went into the kitchen. There was no way that Death was going to fall asleep first. He would make sure that he stayed awake the whole night. Hours passed and soon it was close to midnight. Adrian's mom and dad, Adrian, Dante, Ash, and himself were sitting in the living room watching the t.v., waiting for the ball to drop.

"Happy New Year!" The man on t.v. shouted loudly.

"Happy New Year everyone!" Adrian's mother said joyfully.

"Now remember you guys, the first one to fall asleep gets a makeover," Adrian's father told them. Adrian looked at the other three with a devilish grin. He had hoped that Ash or Cain would fall asleep first. The hours ticked by and each boy was struggling to stay awake. No one wanted to give into sleep. Death glanced at his friends and noticed that Ash had fallen asleep. Death tapped Adrian on the shoulder and pointed at Ash.

"Looks like Ash is going to get the makeover this year," Dante whispered. The three boys had everything to give Ash a makeover. After some arguing, Ash's hair ended up being dyed a peach color. Death had to hold in his laugh because his hair looked like the horrible 'nice' shirt Joe had made him wear. Dante then dumped glitter all over Ash until he was completely covered in it. To finish it off Adrian quickly painted Ash's nails neon green on. All three boys took pictures of Ash and laughed the whole time. It was a few hours later when the other three dozed off, but the peace didn't last long. Ash woke up an hour later, and he was very unhappy about his new look. Ash chucked a pillow at each of his friends. Death woke up and looked at Ash.

"Who did it?" Ash questioned them. The three boys looked at each other and tried not to laugh at him.

"Well, we each did something. Cain dyed your hair, I dumped glitter on you, and Adrian was the one who painted your nails," Dante stated. Adrian and Death glared at Dante. Death smacked Dante on the head.

"You aren't supposed to tell him who did you idiot!" Death yelled at him.

"He was going to figure it out anyways," Dante whined.

"I would sleep with one eye open you three, because karma is going to get you," Ash told him. He went back over to the couch he was sleeping on and crawled under the covers. None of them took Ash seriously. What could he do? Well, the other three discovered what Ash would do in the morning. Death woke up with maroon colored hair, Adrian had green nails, and Dante had glitter all over him. When Death and Ash got back home Joe couldn't help but laugh at the two boys.

"Did you two like New Year's?" Joe asked.
"It certainly isn't a holiday I want to repeat," Death growled.

"Agreed,"Ash chimed in. Truthfully, they liked spending time with their friends but they didn't appreciate the makeovers.

A/N
This was honestly more of a holiday filler chapter mostly because my family doesn't do anything for New Year's so I somewhat based it off of a New Year's prank that had happened to some of my friends and myself a couple years ago. Thanks for reading! Please vote and comment!
