Pete POV

"Trick, you need to tell me what's been going on."

I sat on his bed as he stared blankly out the window. The whole incident in the bathroom had happened right as school was ending, so we quickly left afterwards.

"Please?"

"I lost my necklace. He broke it."

"Ill figure out how to get you another one." I said standing up to wrap my arms around him from behind.

"No." He said, his voice cracking. "Something like that cant be replaced."

"What was it anyways?"

He paused, looking down to the ground before looking back to the window.
"A three-carat one-of-a-kind necklace made from my grandmother's wedding ring from her first marraige, Pete. It can not be replaced."

He stormed out of his room, and i followed not too far behind.

"Patrick, calm down-"

"You're the one telling me to calm down? Really Pete?"

I reached out to try and comfort him again but he just pushed me away. "Please, just go. You can come over tomorrow when ive had time to calm myself down."

I stood for a moment, seeing his sadness in even his usually bright eyes. I left quickly and quietly after that, knowing i had to do something.

Patrick POV

I must have cried too loudly, because my mom came up to my room as soon as she got home.

"Oh, honey, whats wrong?" She asked worriedly, seeing my red, tear stained face.

"I-i lost my n-neckl-lace" i stuttered just barely through the sobs.

"The one grandma gave you?"

I nodded, because i knew if i tried to speak i would break down again.

"Its okay, how did you lose it?"

I pressed my face into the pillow i was hugging to my chest. I dont want to tell her. But i really should... "I-it got st-stolen-" i said. It wasnt really a lie...

"Do you know who?"

I shook my head, lying again.

"Do you wanna come downstairs? Ill order a pizza for dinner tonight."

I nodded, standing up as she wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

Since it was a friday night, she let me stay up past midnight watching movies with her to cheer me up.
