"Can we talk alone"
"Yeah follow me, I'll find a table free of people"
Finn took her gently by the hand and led her over to an area of tables that were currently empty of people. He pulled a chair out for her to sit in, as she sat he pulled one out for himself slowly sitting down. They glanced at each other and immediately looked away both feeling extremely warm in their cheeks.
"So" Finn said trying to get Millie to open up about what she wanted to talk about.
"I'm surprised you agreed to talk to me, from what Caleb made it sound you were not interested at all" Millie replied mentally slapping herself in the face for bringing that up.
"Yeah well trust me I'm still not sure I even want to be doing this so the faster we get through this the better" Finn stated wincing a little at how harshly that had unintentionally come out.
Millie leaned back from the recoil of the comment looking down at her feet in her black sandals that she was wearing, feeling hurt that he would say such a thing. I thought we were best friends Finn.
"We were best friends Millie until you started to listen to other people and allowing them to control your life instead of doing things on your own" Finn let out stunning Millie as she looked back up at his deep brown eyes.
Millie had not realized that she accidentally said what she was thinking which lead to a more awkward situation.
"Finn, I know that I have messed up a lot these past few months, but you never really gave me a chance to explain" Millie started before being cut off
"Millie look, I was fine with everything but the least you could've done was text me what you were going to do... but you didn't even have the decency to do that. You took pictures with everyone at that award show except me, anytime I tried to talk to you, you would walk away as if you had no idea who I was"
Millie looked down feeling the substantial amount of guilt from earlier start to overwhelm her as her eyes began to glisten with tears. When she looked back up at his face she noticed in his eyes that they too were beginning to moisten with all the pent-up stress that has been between the two of them for months.
"You have no idea what that kind of publicity does to a person, added on to the fact that you apparently have become romantically involved with a person that both I despise, and he despises me. You want us to act like we are still best friends when in reality that just isn't the truth anymore"
That last sentence that came out of his mouth stung and he knew it. His heart was now racing at a million miles per hour and he could feel another anxiety attack coming on. He looked down into her doe brown eyes to see tears slowly streaming down the sides of her cheeks as she slowly started to shake from the sobs that started to creep up on her.
"Finn you promised that we would always be there for each other, we promised that we would never let anything come between us" She added desperate at this point for him to understand, to listen to her so that she could make things right.
"I just want things to go back to the way they were before, before all of this drama" she started slowly dabbing her tears off her face careful not to ruin the make up her artist spent hours perfecting.
Finn reached out and took her hand and asked a question that she herself wasn't sure she could answer at the moment.
"What are you and Jacob"
"I honestly don't know Finn, we have hung out a lot the past few months, but I don't really know where we stand." She said honestly taking her other hand and putting it over the his that was holding her other hand.
