(Six's POV)
"She isn't one of them?" I heard someone whisper behind me. I turned around and saw nothing. I looked behind a rock to see the boy who whispered to me. "Please! D-D Don't hurt me!"
"Why would I hurt you?" I asked.
"I mustn't trust anybody," the boy replied. "I'm on the run from really mean people."
"Like murderers or rapists?" I asked.
"Mind controlling people," the boy replied with nervousness and quivering in his voice. He then calmed down. "But, who are you?"
"My name is Six and I'm not from here," I introduced.
"You're from an alternate universe or dimension?" The boy asked.
"I guess you could put it like that," I replied.
"I guess I can now trust you," the boy replied. "You don't seem to know about them and the awful things they've done."
"But you haven't introduced yourself yet," I reminded.
"I do not have a name," the boy replied. "I have no memory of my family or friends. For all I know, they could be mind controlled or dead."
Six waited a few seconds. "Can I call you Miles?"
"Why?" The boy replied.
"You managed to run away from those evil people that you've talked about while everyone else had been mind controlled. It's also Latin for soldier."
"I kind of like that name," Miles smiled. "But we just keep going." I nodded as the boy, I mean Miles, took my hand. We were walking in the forest until he stopped me. "Careful. There's a deep abyss underneath us." We stepped on the log bridge and made our way to the other side.
"You can let go of my hand now," I spoke. "You're holding it kind of tight."
"Sorry," Miles chuckled. He let go of my hand as we continued down the forest. We kept walking until I saw a truck.
"What's the truck for?" I asked.
"It must be holding those mind controlled people," Miles whispered. "We must proceed with caution." We slid down a small dirt hill and got a clear glimpse of the truck. But then the truck drove away.
We walked a little more until we saw some men in the distance. They were wearing masks.
"They're bad," Miles whispered. "Once they leave, we run." I nodded.
We jumped down from another dirt hill and I accidentally broke a twig. One of the men would've caught me if Miles didn't pull me down.
Miles moved a little to peek at where the men where. They moved deeper into the forest and after we didn't see them, we dashed out of our hiding spot.
After running, we saw a refrigerator and a wall in front of us.
"Help me push this," Miles called. I jogged over to him and pushed the refrigerator down. It served as a block for us to climb up the wall. We slid down another dirt hill and quietly snuck past some men and the dog they had with them.
We saw a high platform above us. We couldn't jump too high, so I picked up Miles and threw him up the platform. I jumped up and Miles grabbed my arm and pulled me up.
We slid down another dirt hill and we were in some water. It was somewhat deep; the water reached up to our waists. We didn't notice the flashlights ahead of us and we heard a barking dog.
"Fuck!" I yelled. Miles and I dashed as soon as we were out of the water. We jumped a cliff, but thankfully there were vines on the cliff's wall that we were able to climb up.
"You ok?" Miles asked me.
"I'm fine," I replied.
