mike woke up that next morning, without trying, a smile on his face. the sun shined brightly through his window, waking him up shortly. he sat up and yawned, stretching his arms out slowly.

"michael! sweetie! you're going to be late! and someone's here for you!"

mike groaned, rolling out of bed before realizing it could be violet waiting for him. "oh, shit-" he swore, tripping over his pants while trying to wiggle them on.

he ran over to his dresser, taking off his previous sweater and stuffing another one on.

mike lifted a bottle of cologne, spraying himself as some went into his mouth. he coughed, gagging at the taste. he placed it back onto the dresser, slipping on his bag and shuffling downstairs.

he stopped at the stairs to see his mom speaking to violet at the door, a polite smile on her face as she nodded along to mrs. wheeler's words.

he saw his.. girlfriend? no, he couldn't call her that yet. they weren't officially dating were they?

he remembered a quick flashback to the night before, smiling at even just the thought of her.

karen suddenly turned to her son at the stairs, which made him snap out of his fantasy and go next to his mom. "there you are, michael. violet here was telling me that you two were going to head to school together," mike's mother said, smiling. "you know, she reminds of that girl you used to hang out with a lot."

he knew who she was talking about. he swallowed the bit of guilt it gave him, taking violet's hand and pulling violet out of the house, closing his door. "right, bye mom!"

he let go of her hand and sighed into his hands. "sorry about her. anyway.." he looked at her with a smirk. "so, you wanted to ride with me?"

the blonde quickly grew red. "i mean, y-yeah. i'm just a few houses away, i'd thought it'd be fun." mike picked up his bike, hopping on while she hopped on the back, curling her arms around his waist.

mike laughed at the girl and began pedaling down the road, air blowing against both of their faces. he loved her face when she was embarrassed.

--

"mike, we're here," she softly told him. mike came to a quick stop, both of them hopping off. mike set his bike in the bike rack and looked at her. she was waiting for him, her hands held behind her back.

"why are you nervous?" mike asked, shoving his hands inside his pockets while he walked alongside her in school.

"i've never walked around with anyone around a school, let alone a guy. i feel as if people are talking about us," she whispered to him, subtly looking to both sides.

"don't worry about it."

the two made it to class a few minutes early, as mike sat down in the front and violet sat down in the back, violet was accompanied by a few girls in her class.

"are you dating mike?" one rang.

"omg, have you kissed?"

"i heard he's weird, but he's also kind of cute."

"what, i.." she glanced back at mike's desk, seeing him watching before turning away once she caught him looking. "no, we're uhm.. we're not dating."

violet swallowed, she felt guilty. i mean, were they dating? could she say that they were? she felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up.

"oh, really? you two would've been so cute together!" the brunette one said before the three girls walked away to their desks.

mike felt a little sad, but he wasn't allowed to, was he? his feelings were mixed. did he truly like her? just because they kissed twice.. and he gives her rides.. it doesn't mean anything. right?
