Soon the sun went down and Emily had to go home. Paul suggested that she should stay over the night, but she couldn't because of school the next day. They walked downstairs to the door. "So, are you gonna be alright?" Emilu asked as Paul nodded. "Course. Don't worry, really." He smiled and hugged her tight."We won't even notice how fast the time fill fly bye." She took in his smell. Cigarretes and some cologne. "Don't forger to write me at least every week and be good, don't embarrass me." "I prosmise. But you have to promise to not replace me" "that's not possible!" We smiled at each other and stared in each others eyes. The same boy and girl who have grown up next to each other, but something seemed to have changed. Was it because these best friends had to part for 3 months or was it because of something else?! As the author of this story I can tell you that they both have feeling for each other but are too ignorant to notice them. Well, maybe not that ignorant because suddenly Paul leaned over and softly kissed Emily on the lips. Her breath hitched but she didn't pull away. She knew she had to. He has a pregnany girlfriend soon to be wife. No way she would ruin it.
They pulled away from each other and Emily took a step back. From on look in Paul's eyes she knew that he feels strongly about her and he saw the same in her eyes. She shook her head "This can't work Paul. I love you, but you're about to start a family with a woman who's carrying your child. But that's alright. We can still be best friends right?" Paul nodded and squeezed her hands. She smiled and walked out of the house. She reached the end of the yard but Paul oprned the door and yelled her name. She turned "I love you too!" Paul yelled to her. She smiled and started her walk home.
