Jordan and Taki

"Oh my gosh-" Taki said, glancing at the creepy house, "Are you sure about this? Cause I'm pretty sure we're already lost and I don't wanna get booty-thistled by spirits too."

Jordan turned and furrowed a brow, "Booty-thistled?"

Taki shook her head and smiled, "Don't ask." she sighed. "Hey, why don't we explore around the house before we go in? Maybe there's a dungeon or something." she joked. Jordan nodded, "Yeah, good idea. Watch your step, though" he warned, "Never know what's out here..."

They headed around the house and Taki started to have a very bad feeling. She stopped dead in her tracks, "I change my mind, Jordan, I don't wanna do this." she said, "There's something off about this place and I'm not havin' it..."

Jordan sighed, "Oh come on, Asia, we've made it this far. What could possibly go wrong?" and almost as if on cue, the ground collapsed beneath him- an old wooden door, seemingly leading down to a basement of sorts, was hidden from their line of vision by a thick disarray of leaves. Taki's eyes widened, "Oh my god-" she ran over to the hole and kneeled down, "Jordan, are you okay?!" she yelled. Jordan stuck out a thumbs up from under the rubble. Taki watched as he struggled to lift himself to his feet. At last, he stood upright. He groaned as he felt the back of his head where it had hit the hard cement floor, "Ouch." he said. Suddenly, he stopped. He began looking around, his eyes were full of shock and horror, "Woah- Asia, you've gotta see this..."

Asia laughed, "And how the heck am I supposed to get down there?" she asked. Taki, while unwilling to jump down into the hole as she was almost certain Jordan was about to ask her to do, had her interests raised at the sight of Jordan's reaction. She was curious. Jordan thought for a moment, then he had an idea. "Asia, I'm sending pictures. Check your phone." he ordered. Taki was dumbfounded, "I'm surprised you didn't ask me to jump down there with you." she thought aloud as she pulled out her phone to look at the pictures. Jordan scoffed, "Asia, it's bad enough that I'm stuck down here- at least for the time being- I don't want us to both be stuck in a hole with no way to get help or at least survive for a few days until somebody finds us..." he defended. "Sorry." she apologized, "Oh my God... there's no way that's real..." Taki shook as the hair on the back of her neck stood up and goosebumps consumed the visible portion of her arms. "Jordan, I don't like this... it's getting dark." she said fearfully. Jordan furrowed a brow, "Asia, that's impossible, it's only-" Jordan stared at his phone in disbelief, "5:35..."

Jordan raced over to the hole to look up at the sky, the sun was no longer visible from the basement floor. "How the hell is that even possible?" he panicked, "it was no later than two o'clock when we got here, I'm sure of it."

Taki began to panic as well and she started to wonder how long they were actually traveling through the woods until they got to the house... she felt a pit in her stomach. "Jordan..." she said. Jordan looked up, still in shock, "Yes?" he replied. Taki stared off into space as tears welled up in here eyes, "Do you even remember how we got in the woods?" she asked him. Jordan laughed, "We came here to hunt ghosts, Asia, remember?" he told her. Taki shook her head, "No, Jordan, I mean how did we get in the woods? How did we even know where this house was?" tears began to fall from her eyes, "None of it makes sense!" she cried.

"Asia, calm down. Don't you remember? We-" he stopped and shook his head, "We-"

Jordan was dumbfounded, "Uh, give me a second, I'm having a blonde moment." he explained, but this was no blonde moment- this was an entire chunk of memory missing from his mind, and the longer it took him to think of an answer, the hotter his blood began to feel as it coursed through his veins. He shook his head, "It's on the tip of my tongue, just give me a second." he assured her. Taki looked deep into his eyes, "Jordan, I love you, and it's for that reason that I trust you and I have faith that you'll tell me the truth- but how am I supposed to trust you if you lie to my face knowing we both know that it's a load of crap?"

Jordan's vision became blurred by the tears rolling down his face like water from a leaky faucet. He tightly shut his eyes and collapsed to the ground. His blood felt like magma flowing through his body, his brain pounded like a sledgehammer against his skull, his heart- it felt as though time had froze and his heart... felt as though it was without a pulse. "I... I... I can't... remember."

Neither could remember how they had found themselves wandering through the woods to a house they had never known existed before today, but what alarmed them more than anything was the sudden realization that they had no idea how to get out of the woods. Taki held her breath as she glanced away from the hole. The two had been so busy trying to fill in the blanks that neither of them noticed that the sun had completely vanished from sight and the moon slowly rose to take its place- it's faint, dim light illuminating everything around them. Taki felt her throat tightening as she began to look around, noticing things she hadn't paid attention to before- like how the trees seemed to surround the house like bars on a cage, trapping them.

Taki's heart raced as she looked back at Jordan, "What are we gonna do?" she asked. Jordan raced over to her and stretched his arm to interlock his hand with hers, "I'm going to find a ladder or something that will get me high enough to get out of here, and then we're going to get the hell away from this place and we're never going to look back. We're going to be okay, Asia." he promised. She nodded and let go of his hand. He backed away into the darkness and began searching for something to aid his escape.

While he was rummaging through piles of clutter and moving boxes, Jordan spotted a large, seemingly-new wooden crate in the corner and he immediately raced towards it and began to push and pull it with all his might. The strenuous pulling had caused him to collapse from exhaustion, he suddenly began to wonder what was in the box that made it so heavy. He rose to his feet when he noticed a crawl space sized door that had previously been hidden by the crate, almost as if they were trying to keep something out... or in. Jordan slowly backed away and ran over to the whole where Taki was patiently waiting to pull him out. "I found a crate, it should give me enough height to climb out of here, but it's going to take me a while to get it all the way over here." he said. Jordan was startled by the sound of something collapsing. Taki turned her head towards the door. Jordan hesitantly went to check. The door had been demolished from the outside. His eyes widened, he raced back over to the hole. "Listen, you have to call Mallory." he told her. Taki began to panic, "Jordan, what's going on?!"

Before he could answer, Jordan was dragged away through the door. "JORDAN!"
