As the group reached the Hokage Monuments, they decided to stop and hide within one of the miniture caves carved into the Hokage faces as a tourist spot. Groups of families with children were visiting the place and the three were able to mix within the groups. "Ha! Those guys'll never find us" Naruto half shouted, making the people around them turnnin suspicion, giving out a cry of pain a few moments later as Kiba wacked the back of his head, and Shikamaru whispered for him to lower his voice.
Kiba looked out the window, Akamaru perched on his head as both tried to find the familiar scent of Iruka, created by the holes that were the eyes of the Second Hokage, pretending to look out at the view, he whispered "what now?". Shikamaru was beside him, leaning against the wall looking out through the window at the clouds, "we split up". The two turned amd looked at Naruto who was looking at them, methaporically, with flames in his eyes. "It'd be easier to hide one person that three right?" he continued, while looking at them as he began to climb out through the eyes. A few second later he was gone.
"What a drag" Shikamaru exclaimed as he too left, opting for a less dangerous and troublesome way. The stairs. Leaving the Inuzuka and his dog on their own, still trying to comprehend what just happened.
It took him a while to realise that he was now the only human of their group left. Akamaru barked, pulling him out of his shock. "Yeah I know" whispering to Akamaru who was perched on his head, "right! Let's go Akamaru!" he exclaimed, then following the smarter of his classmates and took the stair.
After reaching the bottom of the stairs, the young Inuzuka was bombarded with strong scents, ranging from garlic to body odor, which, unbeknownst to him, was placed there by long ago by the Inuzuka clan as a test to distinguish each smell from the other.
As they moved away, all Shikamaru and Naruto heard was a shout from their dog loving friend, and maybe, though most likely just their imagination, a small high pitched yelp that had escaped his white furred companion.
