Hmmm... Tell me how you like the drama. I know where I'd go with it if I kept it, but I DID intend this to be really realistic... I dunno, what do you think? xoxo
Dan helps me up, making me sit back on the couch, while he heads into the kitchen to make some lunch. Shannon comes back soon after.
“Where did you go?” I ask her. I’m huddled at one end of the couch with the blankets wrapped around me.
She lifts some shopping bags, “I went shopping! I needed some more things.”
I sit up, “Ooh, what did you get?” She hadn’t struck me as a girl who loved shopping.
She sits down on the couch and dumps the bags. “I got some books,” she says, pulling out The Fault In Our Stars by John Green and Touching The Surface by Kimberly Sabatini.
I lunge for them both before she can continue, “These are amazing books!” I squeal. “Did you buy them? Do you own them now?”
She laughs, “Yeah, I know. I read them a while ago and figured I’d own them. Especially this work of art,” she says, touching The Fault In Our Stars.
I agree happily and she pulls out some clothes boxes. “I got a few shirts and things,” Shannon shrugs. “And I couldn’t resist this when I saw it!” She waves a light blue rubber duck with “Okay” printed on its chest.
“That’s so cool!” I clap my hands. “What about this?” I tug a blue sweater from the bottom of the pile. It has a yellow duck printed on the front. I smirk at her.
Shannon rolls her eyes, “I love ducks, okay?” I laugh.
Dan comes in with a cup of water and some sandwiches in his hands. “Hey, Shannon!” he greets, leaning over the back of the couch.
She waves, “Hey, how’ve you been doing? Keeping poor Katie here occupied?”
Dan gives her a tired look and sighs. “Yes, I am. What do you have here?” he nods to the pile.
“I went shopping,” Shannon repeats. She gathers the things up and stuffs them back in the bag.
“I see,” Dan says, walking around to sit on the coffee table in front of us. He hands me the water and a sandwich. “Nutella,” he winks.
I laugh and manage a thank you before biting into it.
“So what do you think we could do today?” Dan asks.
I’m busy eating, but Shannon replies, “Hmm… I don’t really know. Why not walk around town? Ooh!” She suddenly gets excited. “Can we go swimming? Let’s go to the lake at the park! Are we allowed to swim there? Ah, who cares, I’d swim anyway.”
Dan and I laugh at her enthusiasm and I swallow a bite of bread and chocolate heaven. “I’m not much of a swimmer, but I’d go with you guys,” I offer.
Dan nods. “Sure, why not? I’ll call the guys.” He gets up and pulls out his phone, wandering away to the side of the room.
Shannon looks extremely proud of herself and she explains to me her history of swimming until Dan comes back. “Everything’s set, we’re gonna meet the boys at the park. Ready?”
